Overview

The Global Low Latency UNIX Support Team is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to support a global low-latency infrastructure spanning more than 2,300 servers across 30+ exchange colocation sites and core data centers. You will have deep expertise in Linux environments, including SLES and RHEL, along with strong knowledge of enterprise server hardware and infrastructure. This role is responsible for all stages of the hardware lifecycle, including planning, deployment, activation, product ionization, and vendor management. The position provides support to critical trading and market-facing platforms across multiple business lines, including Foreign Exchange, Market Data, Rates, Equities, Commodities, Derivatives, and Algorithmic Trading. We are looking for a collaborative problem solver with strong communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

What You'll Do
  • Provide dedicated support for Change the Bank and Run the Bank activities across the Global Low Latency UNIX infrastructure, including rapid response to production incidents
  • Plan, deploy, activate, productionize, upgrade, and maintain low-latency server hardware and operating systems across exchange colocation sites and core data centers
  • Perform advanced Linux and latency-specific tuning, including CPU isolation, real-time threads, interrupt affinity, network interface card buffer optimization, and kernel-level enhancements
  • Partner with application and project delivery teams to align environments with the technology roadmap, including operating system, hardware, and third-party software upgrades
  • Design, test, and validate engineering releases and RPM packages for applications requiring ultra-low-latency performance
  • Drive standardization and automation while coordinating with UNIX engineering teams and third-party vendors to assess and implement new technologies


How You'll Lead
  • Act as a senior UNIX subject matter expert and trusted advisor to technology and business stakeholders supporting global trading platforms
  • Lead technical decision-making during complex incidents, infrastructure changes, and performance investigations across multiple regions
  • Build strong partnerships with application teams, project delivery teams, UNIX engineering, network and storage teams, and external vendors


Skills You'll Need
  • Extensive experience administering enterprise Linux environments, particularly SLES and RHEL, including upgrades, patching, configuration, performance management, troubleshooting, and capacity planning
  • Deep knowledge of low-latency systems engineering, including Linux kernel tuning, latency and jitter reduction, BIOS tuning, real-time kernels, kernel bypass technologies, CPU and I/O architecture, InfiniBand, and Ethernet hardware
  • Strong expertise in TCP/IP networking, routing, network topology, firewalled environments, Ethernet bonding, PCIe technologies, and protocols including NFS, NIS, DNS, DHCP, UDP, IGMP, NTP, and SSH
  • Experience with enterprise server hardware, including HP ProLiant DL380/580 and Synergy platforms, as well as storage technologies such as EMC and NetApp
  • Experience using Perl, Shell, and/or Ansible to automate infrastructure administration and operational tasks
  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and optimize workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure the responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $125,000 to $222,500. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
