As a
System Administrator, you will sustain a secure Linux environment supporting mission and operations users. You will work on a collaborative government and contractor team responsible for physical and virtual servers, authentication, DNS, shared storage, home directories, network connectivity, security compliance, and cloud or container-enabled infrastructure. The position may be aligned to Level 2 or Level 3 based on your experience. You'll directly support the availability and security of systems essential to mission operations. You'll also end your day knowing that you're doing work that truly matters.
Position requires an active TS/SCI with polygraph level clearance. US citizenship is required.Responsibilities- Administer, configure, patch, and troubleshoot Linux physical servers and virtual machines.
- Monitor system health and respond to mission-critical alerts, operational issues, and Jira tickets.
- Support authentication, DNS, shared drives, home directories, and communications across backend environments.
- Implement and maintain STE, STN, DISA STIG, and system security plan compliance requirements.
- Administer virtualized environments using VMware, Red Hat KVM, Proxmox, or comparable technologies.
- Support IP networking, firewall rules, and connectivity troubleshooting in coordination with network engineers.
- Manage storage systems and arrays such as NetApp and Isilon.
- Support containerized, cloud, or hyperconverged infrastructure as the environment modernizes.
- Automate routine administration, compliance, and configuration activities where practical.
- Maintain system documentation and communicate operational status to government and contractor team members.
Qualifications- Professional Linux system administration experience appropriate for a Level 2 or Level 3 position.
- Experience applying DISA STIGs and supporting STE, STN, or comparable secure-system compliance activities.
- Experience administering VMware, Red Hat KVM, Proxmox, or similar virtualization technologies.
- Working knowledge of IP networking, firewalls, DNS, authentication, and shared-storage services.
- Experience supporting physical and virtual infrastructure in an operational environment.
- Current certification meeting DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II requirements.
- Active TS/SCI with polygraph-level clearance.
- Candidates must meet the applicable education and experience requirements for the assigned System Administrator 2 or System Administrator 3 labor category.
Desired Skills- Experience with Ansible, Salt, or comparable automation and configuration-management tools.
- Scripting experience using Bash, Python, Perl, or a comparable language.
- Experience administering NetApp, Isilon, or other enterprise storage platforms.
- Experience with Harvester, Nutanix, Cisco HyperFlex, or other hyperconverged platforms.
- Experience supporting containers or cloud-enabled infrastructure.
