As a
Software Engineer, you will develop and improve monitoring solutions used across mission-critical applications, servers, and infrastructure. Working on a small cross-contract team, you will create Zabbix templates, build and refine dashboards, develop scripts, and help systems and network teams deploy monitoring agents correctly. You'll have the opportunity to shape the monitoring capabilities that give technical teams faster visibility into system health, availability, certificates, and application processes. You'll also end your day knowing that you're doing work that truly matters.
Position requires an active TS/SCI with polygraph level clearance. US citizenship is required.Responsibilities- Develop, configure, and sustain Zabbix-based monitoring capabilities for mission applications and infrastructure.
- Create reusable Zabbix templates for hardware, server certificates, services, and application processes.
- Design and refine dashboards that provide systems and network teams with actionable operational visibility.
- Develop scripts and supporting utilities using Python, Java, C#, or comparable languages.
- Assist systems administrators and network engineers with deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting monitoring agents.
- Integrate monitoring capabilities with Linux-based systems and operational workflows.
- Respond to Jira requests for new monitoring coverage, dashboard changes, alerts, and troubleshooting support.
- Participate in recurring technical meetings and collaborate across contracts and engineering disciplines.
- Document monitoring templates, deployment procedures, alert logic, and operational troubleshooting steps.
- Evaluate future monitoring technologies and support the transition to new platforms when required.
Qualifications- Demonstrated Zabbix development, configuration, or template-authoring experience.
- Software development or scripting experience with Python, Java, C#, or a comparable language.
- Working knowledge of Linux environments and command-line tools.
- Experience troubleshooting applications, services, certificates, or system processes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with systems administrators, network engineers, software engineers, and mission stakeholders.
- Active TS/SCI with polygraph-level clearance.
- Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:
- A high school diploma or GED, plus eighteen (18) years of software engineering experience; or
- A bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline, plus fourteen (14) years of software engineering experience.
Desired Skills- A current certification meeting DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II requirements; certification is preferred but is not required on the first day.
- Experience configuring, extending, or developing other enterprise monitoring platforms.
- Experience building operational dashboards and actionable alerting strategies.
- Experience automating monitoring deployments or configuration management.
