  • Support Production, Quality, and Materials swiftly in a dynamic work environment.
  • Investigate issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to develop short-term solutions to production issues.
  • Relay engineering impacts and rework instructions to production staff.
  • Provide clear information to Kenworth Division Engineering for long-term resolutions.
  • Communicate chassis image changes through various channels including email and tracking systems.
  • Keep management updated on key issues affecting production flow.
  • Document build issues and corrective actions in a corrective action system.
  • Conduct special studies or investigations as directed by supervisors.
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential production challenges by reviewing upcoming builds.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requisition Summary

Coordinate with engineering, production, materials and quality while learning all aspects of the manufacturing process and gaining broader product knowledge in a fast-paced environment.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast paced environment providing timely support to Production, Quality and Materials related to build issues.
  • Investigate issues to determine root cause and bring issues to closure via corrective actions.
  • Develop short term engineering solutions and containment strategies with Design Engineering to eliminate recurring production line issues.
  • Communicate to production the impact of engineering issues and rework instructions to resolve issue.
  • Provide Kenworth Division Engineering with clear information required to implement long term corrective actions to resolve design issues.
  • Communicate chassis image changes verbally, using email distributions, and via use of the online defect tracking system. (EWI)
  • Update management on key issues and impacts to production flow.
  • Document via a corrective action system, build issues and the corrective actions required to resolve the issues. Ensure that the final chassis image reflects the correct part usage.
  • Conduct and monitor special studies or investigations relating to assignments requested by the Liaison Supervisor or Resident Engineering Manager.
  • Review upcoming builds to anticipate and mitigate potential production challenges.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.


Qualifications

  • Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Background in manufacturing, fabrication, machine design, system design or general industrial/machinery/mechanical experience.
  • Demonstrated problem solving aptitude.
  • Self starter with ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of truck components and systems.
  • Understanding of bills of materials and selection logic.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Word, Excel, and CMS-80.
  • Creo & EWI experience desired.
  • Occasional work outside of usual hours may be required.


Salary Information

The salary range for the Liaison Engineer is $70,500 - $96,800 annually. Additionally, this role is eligible for a full range of benefit options listed above.
