Betterment is seeking a Legal Counsel - Corporate & Commercial to join its legal team. This role is central to supporting Betterment's mission of making investing, saving, and retirement solutions accessible and effective for individuals and businesses. As Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in negotiating and managing the commercial agreements and corporate matters that underpin Betterment's operations. This position offers broad exposure to dealmaking and governance, including drafting and negotiating vendor, technology, and commercial agreements, and supporting corporate transactions such as M&A and securities matters. You will advise on a range of legal and strategic issues, partner with business teams on new initiatives, and help manage board and equity matters. The role requires a strong transactional attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment and is adept at building scalable legal processes for a lean team. Ideal candidates will have a JD, admission to a state bar, and at least four years of relevant in-house or firm transactional experience.
