Job Description:

The Software Quality Engineer (SWQE) is responsible for the Software Quality Assurance (SWQA) of products and services provided to our customers and will provide lead Software Quality Engineering support to all SATCOM Programs in Brevard County, Florida. The SWQE defines the processes to be implemented on assigned programs for complete oversight of the program activities. The SWQE will be able to thrive in a fast-moving environment under tight schedules and coordinate multiple tasks effectively. This person will also ensure that customer software and firmware quality-imposed technical requirements are adhered to and for proactive reporting of all known and potential issues and risks to the program team, management, and external customers as required.

Essential Functions:

SWQE's tasks include, but are not limited to, the following (applies to both software and firmware products):
• Interface with Quality, Engineering, Management, Customers (including customer representatives like FAA QRO, DCMA, etc.), Suppliers and Subcontractors to ensure contractual requirements are met
• Review contract, statement of work, and subcontracts for understanding of all requirements in order to generate Basis of Estimates (BOEs) or general program planning of SWQA tasks on a program.
• Performs independent internal audits on existing processes, products and services to verify compliance to internal policies, procedures, and customer requirements (including customer required industry standards i.e. ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9115, etc.)
• Participate in and provide inputs on program plans, risk identification and mitigation, requirements, design, code, testing, deliverables, milestone reviews and non-conformance management.
• Actively participate in and verify all change management process, Change Control Boards (CCBs), etc.
• Monitor subcontractor process and products, verification of COTs and license control.
• Analyzes data collected from product and process nonconformities, discrepancies, and audits to identify risks and opportunities for improvement. May lead corrective action review boards and facilitate Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA), as well as improvement projects, utilizing Lean tools and Six Sigma principles.
• May serve as the primary interface to customers and software suppliers for software/firmware quality related matters.
• Support generation, review and verification of manual and automated tests to proactively discover any bugs or issues with the software prior to integration (Unit under test and test sets/scripts, etc.)
• Collaborate with Software Engineering to certify DevOps (CI/CD) pipelines used in development; Continue to monitor pipeline performance and re-certify when changes are rolled out.
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance (DoD Secret at a minimum.)

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or relaed field and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
• An Active Security Clearance (DoD Secret minimum)

Preferred Additional Skills:
• Understanding of software configuration and change management practices.
• Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement and AS9100/ISO9001 and AS9115 quality systems experience.
