Full Job Description
A Brief Overview

The US LBM Lead Software Engineer (Digital Workplace) will provide technical leadership while working hands-on alongside software engineers developing highly available applications, integrations, and automations across US LBM's digital workplace, collaboration, identity, endpoint management, intranet, and workflow automation, built on Microsoft 365, Workday, and a modern identity and endpoint stack.

This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, product partnership, and business engagement. The Engineering Lead will partner with Product Managers, Architects, and business stakeholders to align technology delivery with business objectives and guide teams through design, development, deployment, and support.

Above all, this is a builder's role at the leading edge of US LBM's move to an AI-First software development lifecycle. Partnering closely with the Product Manager, the Lead Engineer will own use-case discovery and rapid prototyping, quickly turning ideas into working proof-of-concepts that demonstrate business value across the organization, and will lead their team in adopting AI across how we discover, design, build, test, and ship software. If you want to help define how a 13,000-person company builds software in the AI era, this is that role.

What you will do
  • Partner with the Product Manager to own use-case discovery and rapid prototyping, identifying, testing, and proving out AI and technology opportunities across the organization, and turning them into working proof-of-concepts
  • Drive your team toward an AI-First software development lifecycle, embedding AI across discovery, design, coding, testing, code review, and delivery
  • Lead engineering across the digital workplace, collaboration, identity, endpoint, intranet, and workflow automation (Microsoft 365, Workday, Simpplr, Power Automate, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf)
  • Improve the associate experience and automate manual workflows through automation, AI, and modern application design
  • Remain hands-on in complex development while providing technical leadership, mentoring, and code reviews
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support applications, APIs, and integrations
  • Partner with Product Managers, Architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions
  • Guide technical design and architecture to ensure scalable, secure, reliable solutions
  • Drive delivery priorities, manage risks and dependencies, and communicate progress and outcomes
  • Build reusable integration patterns, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering standards
  • Champion AI-assisted development including specification-driven development, automated testing, AI code review, and intelligent workflows
  • Troubleshoot complex production and integration issues while maintaining data integrity and business value
