Position Description: The Lead Software Engineering Consultant - Microservices leads the design and development of cloud native services that form the core application capability of the program.
This role is a hands on technical leader responsible for Java microservices, event driven design, integration patterns, code quality, and team mentoring within an AI enabled delivery model.
This role is part of an AI first software engineering organization where Artificial Intelligence is integrated throughout the software development lifecycle. Candidates must demonstrate practical experience leveraging AI to improve productivity, quality, and delivery outcomes using modern AI assisted development practices.
Your future duties and responsibilities: .Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise grade microservices and distributed applications.
.Develop high performance Java based services using modern software engineering and design principles.
.Design and implement event driven solutions utilizing Kafka or equivalent messaging technologies.
.Develop and maintain integrations supporting XML based interfaces and legacy interoperability requirements.
.Support implementation and integration of ASN.1/CMIP based interfaces where required.
.Collaborate with solution architects and engineering teams to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
.Perform technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and engineering best practices.
.Promote AI assisted development and BMAD practices across the team to improve quality and delivery speed.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role: .8+ years of experience developing enterprise software solutions using Java.
.Strong hands on experience designing and developing microservices based applications.
.Experience with Java, Spring Boot, and related enterprise development frameworks.
.Strong experience implementing event driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
.Experience developing XML based integrations and enterprise interface solutions.
.Familiarity with ASN.1 and CMIP protocols or experience integrating with legacy telecommunications protocols.
.Experience with cloud native application development and containerized environments, with Microsoft Azure preferred.
.5+ years of hands on experience using modern software engineering and DevSecOps toolchains, including VS Code, GitLab, JFrog Artifactory/Nexus, Ansible, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), OpenShift Pipelines/Argo CD, and SonarQube.
.Demonstrated experience working within an AI enabled Software Development Lifecycle (AI SDLC), leveraging AI assisted development tools to improve software engineering productivity, quality, testing, documentation, and delivery outcomes.
.Experience using the Business Model Assisted Development (BMAD) framework or comparable AI native delivery practices.
.Strong understanding of Agile delivery, DevSecOps, CI/CD, secure software development, and modern engineering practices.
Preferred Qualifications
.Telecommunications industry experience.
.Experience developing highly available, mission critical enterprise applications.
.Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration platforms.
.Experience with REST APIs, distributed systems, and integration frameworks.
.Java, Spring, Azure, or Kubernetes certifications.
.Experience leveraging AI assisted software engineering tools to improve code quality, testing, and developer productivity.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000-$130,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
