Full Job Description
We are seeking a Senior / Lead Engineer with 8-12 years of core engineering experience to join the JPMC Payments team supporting the Pay Edge Application. The ideal candidate must possess genuine, practical hands-on experience in Kubernetes Ingress and traffic routing, combined with strong microservices engineering skills in Java and Spring Boot. You will be responsible for designing resilient microservices, configuring secure traffic routing, and maintaining financial-grade performance standards. Design, implement, and maintain production-grade Kubernetes Ingress controllers (NGINX, HAProxy, Traefik, Istio Gateway). Configure host-based and path-based traffic routing, load balancing, and reverse proxying for high-availability payment services. Manage TLS/SSL termination, certificate rotation, and secure external/internal traffic boundaries. Perform advanced troubleshooting on routing failures, HTTP 4xx/5xx errors, connectivity bottlenecks, DNS mapping, and controller issues. Architect and build scalable, secure microservices using Java and Spring Boot. Integrate asynchronous messaging and transaction streaming using Kafka. Ensure compliance with financial-grade security, low-latency processing, and high-resiliency requirements. Implement automated CI/CD deployment pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Argo CD. Deep hands-on production experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes Ingress resources and controllers (NGINX Ingress Controller, HAProxy, Traefik, or equivalent). Practical experience with host-based and path-based routing, service exposure, reverse proxying, load balancing, TLS termination, certificate management, and security controls. Strong hands-on development skills in Java and Spring Boot (Go or Python experience is also relevant). Hands-on experience managing TLS certificates and securing endpoints. Real-world examples of diagnosing and resolving complex Ingress routing or controller incidents. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization/orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes). Apache Kafka or equivalent enterprise messaging systems for event-driven architecture. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab/GitHub Actions) and GitOps deployments using Argo CD. Terraform and/or Ansible for automated infrastructure provisioning. Amazon Web Services (AWS) or enterprise cloud infrastructure.
