Job Description

Responsible for providing expert cross-sectional imaging procedures within your department, ensuring colleagues deliver a high level of service and quality care to both patients and consultants. Since it is a lead role, some level of guidance to the subordinates is also required.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Performs Radiographs on all patient types at Chilton Medical Center.
2. Oversees all administrative aspects of the Radiology Department in the absence of the day Lead Radiographer / Manager of Radiology
3. Works closely with the Hospital Nursing Supervisor on any operational issues with arise within all Medical Imaging
4. Exercises the discretion to change imaging protocols if necessary to better demonstrate pathologies in complex clinical cases.
5. Responsible for the quality of the examinations performed in the department using judgement to improve quality and to recognize technical problems with imaging and ensure they are rectified.
6. Authorizes and performs highly complex specialist imaging procedures, provides direct patient care and a high quality diagnostic service in order to assist in the management of patients referred from clinicians.
7. Uses experience and clinical knowledge to alert clinicians locally to abnormalities/pathologies demonstrated which require immediate medical attention/ additional imaging.
8. Acts as the coordinator for the transfer of complex clinical cases requiring imaging from both within the hospital and the regional hospitals served, ensuring the multidisciplinary team including medical and nursing staff are available to support these cases (e.g. spinal cord injuries/pediatric cases).
9. Acting as a point of specialist advice for patient enquiries regarding their referral.
10. Works in accordance with IR(ME)R 2000 regulations , MHRA guidelines 2015 and local rules, policies and procedures.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:
1. Graduate of a School of Radiologic Technology.
2. CPR certification and ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) (R), (VI) or (CV) certification required within 3 months of hire.
3. Work Experience Minimum Two (2) years clinical experience.Preferred :
1. Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
2. Three (3) years of clinical experience.
3. One (1) year of clinical experience in a leadership role.
