We’ve been in the video game business since 1995, creating interactive experiences for fans of the world’s largest franchises. Join the team behind the blockbuster open world, action RPG Hogwarts Legacy as we create what’s next!

Avalanche Software, a division of Warner Bros. Games Inc., is seeking a Quality Assurance Lead to help define and evolve quality practices for a new online multiplayer RPG.

This role goes beyond traditional feature testing and bug verification. We are looking for someone who is passionate about modern quality practices and finding innovative ways to improve coverage, accelerate feedback, and increase confidence in game quality as development scales.

The ideal candidate combines strong QA fundamentals with a systems-oriented mindset, constantly seeking new ways to improve confidence in game quality through intelligent tooling, player simulation, telemetry analysis, scalable testing strategies, and data-informed decision making. They understand that validating a large-scale online RPG requires more than manual testing alone and are excited to help shape the future of quality within game development.

The Daily

  • Partner with production, engineering, design, and QA partners to define testing strategies, quality goals, and risk management plans for complex game systems.
  • Champion modern quality practices that improve coverage, accelerate feedback loops, and enable teams to make informed development decisions with greater confidence.
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing effectiveness through intelligent tooling, workflow improvements, simulation strategies, and data-informed validation approaches.
  • Develop and maintain quality plans that balance hands-on testing, system validation, player-focused evaluation, and scalable testing methodologies.
  • Conduct testing across gameplay systems, progression, inventory, persistence, multiplayer, social systems, UI flows, stability, and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and technical partners to improve test coverage, build verification processes, testing utilities, simulation tools, and quality-focused development workflows.
  • Help define how player simulation can be used to validate multiplayer experiences, progression systems, persistence, social interactions, and large-scale gameplay environments.
  • Leverage telemetry, gameplay data, crash reporting, and quality metrics to identify trends, assess risk, and focus testing efforts where they will have the greatest impact.
  • Create high-quality bug reports, support triage efforts, verify fixes, and help teams understand player impact and root causes.
  • Develop testing approaches for highly interconnected online systems including progression, persistence, inventory management, matchmaking, social features, and live-service functionality.
  • Guide internal and external QA contributors by clarifying testing priorities, feature intent, expected behavior, and reporting standards.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging tools, technologies, testing methodologies, and quality practices that can improve team effectiveness and confidence in the product.
  • Advocate for the player while providing actionable feedback on usability, accessibility, progression, multiplayer experiences, and overall game quality.

The Essentials

  • 5+ years of professional QA experience within game development.
  • Proven experience testing complex gameplay systems and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary development teams.
  • Strong understanding of modern quality assurance practices and scalable testing methodologies.
  • Experience developing testing strategies for complex and interconnected gameplay systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve quality outcomes through tooling, telemetry, simulation, process improvement, data analysis, or other innovative approaches.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment and how to focus testing efforts where they provide the greatest value.
  • Experience evaluating gameplay from both a player-experience and system-behavior perspective.
  • Expertise in bug writing, issue investigation, regression testing, and quality tracking using tools such as Jira, TestRail, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of the game development lifecycle and how quality practices evolve from prototyping through release and live operations.
  • Experience working within Unreal Engine, Unity, or similar game development environments.
  • Technical aptitude and comfort working with development tools, telemetry systems, debug environments, and diagnostic workflows.
  • Ability to communicate quality risks, priorities, and player impact clearly across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong organizational skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for games and a desire to help teams deliver exceptional multiplayer experiences.
