Technology Consultant (Presales)
Position Summary
The Technology Consultant serves as a strategic technical advisor during the sales cycle, helping enterprise customers align business objectives with technology solutions. This role bridges business and technology discussions, engages executive stakeholders, designs future-state solution strategies, and demonstrates how technology solutions fit within complex enterprise environments. The Technology Consultant partners closely with Sales, Solution Consultants, Product Management, Professional Services, and Customer Success teams to drive successful customer outcomes and accelerate revenue growth.
As a customer-facing presales professional, the Technology Consultant combines business acumen, technical expertise, and consultative engagement skills to influence technology decisions, build executive confidence, and support complex enterprise sales opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Customer Engagement
• Engage with C-level executives, business leaders, and IT stakeholders to understand strategic initiatives, transformation objectives, and technology roadmaps.
• Facilitate discovery workshops to identify business challenges, technical requirements, organizational priorities, and success criteria.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on digital transformation, cloud adoption, application modernization, data strategy, security, and integration approaches.
• Guide customers through technology evaluation and decision-making processes by aligning solution capabilities with business outcomes.
Solution Strategy & Design
• Develop high-level and detailed solution recommendations tailored to customer requirements and business objectives.
• Design future-state technology and business process models that demonstrate alignment between customer goals and proposed solutions.
• Validate solution fit within existing customer ecosystems, platforms, governance frameworks, and operational processes.
• Create architecture diagrams, solution roadmaps, reference models, business value presentations, and technical documentation.
• Identify opportunities to optimize business processes and maximize customer value through technology adoption.
• Showcase current and future UKG Technology Adoption relative to value-based customer outcomes including AI foundation, modeling, training and security, the Google Cloud Platform, Assistive, Generative and Agentic AI and related technologies.
• Partner with Account Executives and Solution Consultants throughout the sales cycle.
• Lead technical strategy discussions during complex pursuits and enterprise opportunities.
• Respond to Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), security reviews, and technical due diligence requests.
• Present solution recommendations and technology strategies to both technical and executive audiences.
• Support proof-of-concepts (POCs), software and security demonstrations, data flow diagrams, and solution validation activities.
• Assist in developing business cases, value assessments, and transformation strategies that support customer decision-making.

AI Platform Expertise
A highly effective consultant should be comfortable leading conversations around:
• Platform Architecture: How Vertex AI fits within the organization's cloud ecosystem and integrates with employee life-cycle applications.
• Model Training Strategy: When to use foundation models versus fine-tuned models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or custom-trained models.
• Data Protection: How employee data is secured, isolated, encrypted, governed, and used (or not used) for model training.
• Responsible AI: How bias, fairness, explainability, hallucinations, and human oversight are managed.
• Risk Mitigation: Security controls, compliance frameworks, monitoring, model governance, incident response, and operational safeguards that reduce organizational risk.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with Product Management to communicate market requirements, customer feedback, and competitive insights.
• Work closely with Professional Services and Customer Success teams to ensure a smooth transition from sales to implementation and adoption through sales to services handoff processes.
• Partner with engineering and product teams to address technical gaps, enhancement requests, and roadmap considerations.
• Contribute to the development of reusable sales assets, best practices, and customer engagement methodologies.
Risk Assessment & Governance
• Assess solution risks, dependencies, scalability considerations, and compliance requirements.
• Advise customers on best practices related to security, integration, data governance, privacy, and operational readiness.
• Ensure proposed solutions align with customer standards, industry frameworks, and organizational governance requirements.
• Identify potential implementation challenges and recommend mitigation strategies.
Thought Leadership
• Stay current on emerging technologies, industry trends, competitive offerings, and market developments.
• Represent the company at customer events, executive briefings, webinars, trade shows, and industry conferences.
• Develop reusable solution assets, reference architectures, white papers, presentations, and best-practice guidance.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and advocate for innovative technology solutions that address customer business challenges.
Travel Requirements
• Travel to customer sites, company offices, team meetings, sales kickoffs, training events, executive briefings, and industry conferences as needed.
• Participate in prospect presentations, discovery workshops, strategic planning sessions, and customer-facing events that support sales and relationship-building activities.
• Travel is expected to be less than 25% of working time and may vary based on business needs, customer requirements, and organizational priorities.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in technology consulting, solution consulting, solution architecture, enterprise architecture, presales engineering, or related customer-facing technical roles.
• Demonstrated experience working with large enterprise customers and executive stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms, enterprise applications, integration architectures, security frameworks, data management, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions and strategic recommendations.
• Exceptional presentation, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience leading customer workshops, executive discussions, and complex solution evaluations.
• Ability to influence decision-makers through consultative engagement and business-focused technology discussions.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in SaaS, cloud-based enterprise software, or technology consulting organizations.
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks, business process transformation methodologies, and organizational change initiatives.
• Experience supporting complex sales cycles and multi-stakeholder enterprise opportunities.
• Relevant industry certifications in cloud technologies, enterprise architecture, security, or consulting disciplines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.

The pay range for this position is $129,500 to $186,100. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and work location. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible to participate in a performance-based bonus plan and to receive restricted stock unit awards as part of total compensation.
