Position Summary

The Digital Portfolio Manager is responsible for supporting the planning, prioritization, governance, and performance visibility of MPC's digital portfolio. This role helps translate digital strategy into an organized, transparent portfolio of initiatives by partnering with business, Digital, Finance, and technology stakeholders to monitor demand, capacity, funding, risks, dependencies, and value realization. The position provides leaders with clear portfolio insights, reporting, and recommendations to support informed decision-making, resource alignment, and execution discipline across digital initiatives. This role also helps mature portfolio management practices by improving portfolio processes, documentation, metrics, and stakeholder engagement to ensure digital investments are aligned to business outcomes and enterprise priorities.

This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports large and/or complex portfolios, leads up to a portfolio team to ensures initiatives are managed according to established processes, from idea to completion, while identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and transparency. Facilitates and/or contributes to portfolio strategy.
  • Optimizes portfolio organization to meet strategic initiatives efficiently and effectively. Advises and collaborates with leadership on delivery structures, including individuals, teams, and teams-of-teams.
  • Identifies and generates reporting mechanisms to best communicate to stakeholders a visualization of the strategy execution within the company and department.
  • Guides and contributes to strategic portfolio roadmap and objective creation.
  • Applies governance and risk mitigation to improve portfolio throughput and quality without reducing processing time. Shares best practices in portfolio governance and risk mitigation across the organization.
  • Seeks, establishes, and drives emerging opportunities to keep portfolio stakeholders involved and informed on initiative status, impediments, objectives, roadmaps, etc.
  • Facilitates and/or contributes to the creation of portfolio documentation; recommends improvement and shares best practices.
  • Proactively learns and applies new concepts in Lean-Agile Portfolio Management; Demonstrates progress through metrics and measurable results.
  • Coaches and mentors other Portfolio Managers, leader and stakeholders; shares best practices across the organization.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, related field or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant certification or training required; advanced certification preferred
  • 7+ years of experience required.

It involves the centralized management and visualization of multiple projects or programs within an organization to optimize resource allocation, mitigate risks, and maximize returns. Visualizing the collection of projects or initiatives within an organization in a graphical or visual format provides provide stakeholders, project managers, and decision-makers with a clear and comprehensive view of the entire portfolio of projects.
  • Relationship Management - Relationship Management is the conscious aim to develop and manage long-term and/or trusting relationships with internal or external customers, distributors, suppliers, or other parties in an environment which can include marketing, selling, servicing and other areas where a relationship is crucial to on-going success. At a senior level, it includes C-level relationships with senior management.
  • Schedule Management - The process of establishing policies and documentation for maintaining, developing, managing, and controlling the schedules for time and resources for the completion of the project.
  • Strategic Outlook - Examines issues, generates ideas, creates future scenarios and develops plans with a long-term perspective. Ensures short-term goals support long-term strategy and that organizational/functional strategy aligns with and supports MPC's overall business strategy.
  • Value Tracking & Realization - Value tracking focuses on monitoring and measuring the progress of a project in terms of its expected value, while value realization is concerned with ensuring that the anticipated benefits are fully achieved and sustained over time. Both concepts are critical for effective project management and maximizing the return on investment for organizations.
