Lead Estimator
Core Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Manage estimating team to track, prepare, and submit complete estimates.
  • SOP Compliance: Follow company Standard Operating Procedures for Estimating.
  • Cost Estimating: Develop and prepare complete cost estimates for labor, materials, and OH per project.
  • Material Bills: Prepare bills of material and other information for use by Construction, Purchasing, and Accounting.
  • Bid Meetings: Attend pre-bid and pre-con meetings with Construction.
  • Site Visits: Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings as needed.
  • Field Takeoffs: Perform field take-offs and evaluations for project estimate preparation.
  • Document Review: Review project documents for accuracy and consistency.
  • Handover Docs: Lead development of handover documents for the project team.
  • Cost Support: Assist construction personnel throughout the project life cycle in tracking and understanding cost estimates.
  • Change Orders: Prepare and submit change orders.
  • Bid Accuracy: Review final cost of completed projects to evaluate bid accuracy.
  • Work Location: Essential functions of the position are to be performed primarily in a company-designated office or field location.
  • RFQs: Develop RFQs from vendors.
  • Staff Review: Lead the review and evaluation of estimating staff performance.
  • Bid Scheduling: Coordinate schedule for bid reviews with senior management.
  • Estimator Coordination: Support a team approach to estimating by coordinating with other company estimators.
  • Work Location: Essential functions of the position are to be performed primarily in a company-designated office or field location.

  • Plan Reading: Able to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, technology, and other plans and specifications, including blueprints, proposals, and other relevant documents.
  • Traffic Signals: Knowledge of products and methods of installation in traffic signal construction.
  • Estimating Software: Experience developing estimates with HeavyBid specifically or other similar software such as Accubid, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Team Player: Team player.
  • Self-Driven: Self-driven with the ability to stay on task for extended periods of time while working independently either in the office or remotely.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of construction estimating experience in Our client, roadway, and civil construction or field work. Vertical construction not applicable.
  • Design-Build: Experience in MEP roadway design-build and conceptual budget pricing required.
  • Project Management: Field project management experience preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field; a combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of a degree.
