Full Job Description
Role Summary

This role combines hands‑on data product ownership with people leadership. You will directly own and lead the product team for a set of functional data products end‑to‑end (strategy, delivery, lifecycle and value realization) while also managing, coaching, and developing other Data Product Owners in the MTO (MAKE) function responsible for other products in the functional portfolio.

You will work cross‑functionally with data engineers, data analysts, data governance, IT/architecture, and business subject matter experts to deliver trusted, compliant, and business‑value driven data capabilities. You will ensure lifecycle decisions are driven by measurable value, data quality, and governance standards, and you will uplift the capability of other product owners through coaching, prioritization support, and process alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Data Product Ownership

  • Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle for a defined set of functional data products:
    • define product vision, roadmap, and value hypotheses
    • prioritize features, enhancements, and remediations based on business impact and ROI
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (data engineers, analysts, governance, business SMEs, QA, architects) to deliver capabilities and releases
  • Define and maintain domain data models, metadata, data definitions, and business glossaries for owned products
  • Establish and monitor product KPIs and SLAs (data quality, latency, availability, usage/adoption)
  • Implement and enforce data quality controls and remediation workflows; lead root cause investigation and resolution for data issues
  • Ensure solutions adhere to architectural standards, security, privacy, and regulatory (including GxP if applicable) requirements
  • Manage migrations or re‑pointing of legacy functional data to target architectures as needed
  • Maintain product documentation, onboarding materials, and user support processes

People Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of junior Data Product Owners (2–5 direct reports)
  • Provide coaching on product management practices, data governance, stakeholder engagement, and lifecycle decisioning
  • Drive consistent application of governance, standards, and operating model across the functional portfolio
  • Help junior owners prioritize backlog items, balance technical debt vs. new value, and measure outcomes
  • Facilitate cross‑team alignment and escalate/prioritize cross‑functional risks and issues
  • Support capacity planning, role definition, and recruitment for the functional data product team
  • Represent the functional data product group in governance forums, working groups, and leadership reviews

Outcomes & Success Measures

  • Measurable improvement in data product KPIs (data quality, completeness, timeliness)
  • Increased business adoption and demonstrable value from owned data products
  • Timely delivery of roadmap items and remediation with clear ROI
  • High performing, growing team of junior product owners showing consistent application of governance and lifecycle practices
  • Reduced recurring data incidents and faster incident-to-resolution times
  • Clear, consistent domain metadata and definitions used across functional teams
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Analytics, Supply Chain Technology, or related field
  • Proven product ownership experience or experience owning data domains end‑to‑end in a large, federated organization
  • Demonstrated experience managing and coaching at least 1–3 direct reports
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, data lifecycle management, data modelling, and metadata management
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (preferred: Azure) and modern data engineering concepts
  • Experience defining and tracking data SLAs, KPIs, and operating metrics
  • Solid business acumen and ability to translate business needs into data product requirements
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Experience working with cross‑functional data teams (engineers, analysts, governance, architects)
  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required.

Preferred

  • Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Analytics, Supply Chain Technology, or related field
  • Hands‑on experience with data governance tools, data catalogues, metadata management, or DQ tooling
  • Programming or technical experience (SQL, Python, or similar) and advanced database knowledge
  • Experience working in Supply Chain especially in the manufacturing function
  • Experience in regulated environments (GxP, privacy, security) and supporting compliance needs
  • Prior experience running lifecycle migrations or legacy data re‑pointing projects
  • Certifications in product management, data management, or cloud technologies

Competencies & Behaviors

  • Ownership mindset and measurable focus on outcomes and value delivery
  • Strong collaborator and influencer across business and IT
  • Proactive, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities
