The impact you will have in this role:

The Lead Capacity Planning Engineer for Mainframe works directly with a team responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting mainframe processing capacity at DTCC. The successful candidate will collect, process and validate system resource data along with business volume data for future analysis using sound data science principles. One should have a basic understanding of Mainframe while knowledgeable of sources and tools used to collect, validate, then process required system data. One should have a solid background in both descriptive statistics to extrapolate insight from large quantities of raw data using SAS software on the mainframe and in distributed environments.

Your Primary Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and analyze mainframe system performance and capacity trends.
  • Collect, process, and validate large datasets from various system and business sources.
  • Apply descriptive statistical techniques to summarize and interpret raw data.
  • Utilize SAS software to generate reports and insights that inform capacity planning decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and relevance.
  • Contribute to the development of tools and processes that enhance data collection and analysis

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a mathematics / statistics subject area preferred or equivalent work experience

Talents Needed for Success:
  • Foundational understanding of mainframe systems and architecture.
  • Proficiency in SAS or similar statistical software.
  • MS Office skills, in particular intermediate PowerPoint, and Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical skills including data exploration, analysis
  • Good foundation in Descriptive Statistics
  • Understanding of mainframe technology and components
