Job Description:

Join the Cat Digital Business Intelligence team as a Lead Business Intelligence Analyst and drive strategic analytics initiatives that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role partners with business leaders, product teams, and analytics professionals to deliver scalable reporting and data solutions, align priorities across stakeholders, and advance Caterpillar's business intelligence capabilities. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership, communication, and program management skills with deep expertise in enterprise data analysis, SQL development, and Snowflake-based analytics to turn complex data into actionable business insights.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead strategic business intelligence and data analytics initiatives across product teams, business units, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Partner with business leaders to understand priorities and translate complex business challenges into scalable data and analytics solutions.
  • Drive planning, prioritization, and execution of BI products, analytical datasets, dashboards, and data-driven initiatives.
  • Leverage SQL, Snowflake, and enterprise data platforms to analyze data, identify insights, and support business decision-making.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to develop, optimize, and maintain scalable data solutions, datasets, and reporting capabilities.
  • Establish and promote governance, data quality, and best practices that improve the consistency, reliability, and scalability of analytics solutions.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps that align business intelligence capabilities with organizational goals and future business needs.
  • Communicate insights, recommendations, and technical concepts effectively to executive, business, and technical audiences.
  • Mentor analysts and provide leadership in solution design, stakeholder engagement, and analytical best practices.
  • Lead process improvement, modernization, and change management efforts that enhance business intelligence capabilities and drive operational efficiency.

Business Intelligence & Data Analytics

  • Strong knowledge of business intelligence methodologies, reporting frameworks, and analytical techniques.
  • Ability to leverage data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations.
  • Experience translating complex business questions and requirements into scalable analytics solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis.
  • Ability to perform complex data investigations and root cause analysis to support business decisions and operational improvements.

Data Architecture, Snowflake & Data Engineering

  • Advanced knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and enterprise data architecture principles.
  • Extensive experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting SQL queries against large-scale datasets.
  • Experience developing analytical solutions using Snowflake, including data exploration, transformation, performance tuning, and data sharing.
  • Experience creating scalable, business-ready datasets, semantic models, and reusable data assets.
  • Ability to collaborate with data engineers to design efficient data pipelines and support enterprise reporting requirements.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, governance, and best practices for managing structured and semi-structured data.

Technical Leadership

  • Ability to guide solution design and development efforts in partnership with analysts, developers, and data engineers.
  • Experience establishing standards, governance models, and best practices for reporting, analytics, and data solutions.
  • Ability to balance technical capabilities, business needs, and long-term scalability.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Expert ability to communicate effectively with executive leaders, business partners, and technical teams.

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule but does require candidates to be based in locations listed.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
