About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Business Execution Consultant to support Payment Operations Network Fee Management initiatives within Merchant Services. Learn more about the career areas and business divisions at wellsfargojobs.com.

This role is responsible for driving end-to-end financial oversight of network fees, including interchange analysis, billing accuracy, and revenue and expense assurance activities. The consultant will lead complex data analysis, identify discrepancies and revenue leakage, and implement sustainable controls and processes to enhance transparency, accuracy, and operational efficiency. Additionally, this role will partner cross-functionally with operations, finance, product, pricing, and external network providers to resolve issues, support change initiatives, and deliver actionable, executive-ready insights.


In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the primary business lead for Network Fee Management, including interchange, assessments, pass-through fees, billing validation, and expense oversight.

  • Conduct detailed financial and data analysis to identify billing discrepancies, revenue leakage, expense recovery opportunities, and operational risks.

  • Develop and maintain controls, procedures, and monitoring processes that ensure the accuracy of network fee expenses and merchant billing.

  • Partner closely with Finance, Product, Pricing, Technology, Operations, Risk, and external network providers to resolve issues and implement enhancements.

  • Drive strategic initiatives and change efforts related to network fees, pricing impacts, regulatory requirements, and operational improvements.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate processes, improve data quality, reduce manual effort, and increase operational efficiency

  • Lead cross functional teams to strategize, plan, and execute a variety of programs, services and initiatives.

  • Drive accountability for assigned initiatives, limit risk exposure, and create efficiencies as appropriate.

  • Review strategic approaches and effectiveness of support function and business performance.

  • Perform assessments through fact finding and data requiring creative approaches to solving complex issues and develop appropriate solutions or recommendations.

  • Make decisions in highly complex and multifaceted situations requiring solid understanding of business group's functional area or products, facilitate decision making and issue resolution, and support implementation of developed solutions and plans.

  • Collaborate and consult with members of the Business Execution team and team leaders to drive strategic initiatives.

  • Influence, guide and lead less experienced Strategy and Execution staff within the group.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Business Execution, Implementation, or Strategic Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in payments, merchant services, or financial operations, with exposure to network fee management and/or interchange processing.

  • Demonstrated expertise in interchange and network fee analysis, including validating billing accuracy and identifying discrepancies or revenue leakage.

  • Experience with card network programs (e.g., Visa, Mastercard), including interchange structures and billing frameworks

  • Experience performing revenue and expense analysis, including variance identification, financial reconciliation, and root cause analysis.

  • Advanced data analysis skills, with the ability to work across large, complex datasets and translate findings into actionable insights.

  • Proven ability to design and implement processes, procedures, and controls to improve operational efficiency and accuracy

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including creating pivot tables.

  • Experience operating within a risk and control framework, including control execution and issue remediation.

  • Demonstrated change management experience impacting financial processes, systems, or operations.

  • Strong consultation and influencing skills, with the ability to partner cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with network billing platforms, settlement systems, or merchant pricing engines.

  • Experience supporting audit, regulatory, or compliance activities related to financial controls.

  • Ability to deliver executive-ready communication and insights.

  • Experience leading large-scale or complex initiatives within payment operations or financial services

  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, executive-ready reporting, insights, and recommendations that support business decisions.
