This full-time, hourly Lead Biomedical Equipment Technician position is responsible for inspecting, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining medical equipment while providing technical support and leadership to the team. Essential Functions: - Manage the Biomed department, ensuring team members meet performance standards, workload is appropriately distributed, and resources are effectively managed.
- Lead and oversee Biomed staff at the assigned location, including timecard, PTO, and pay period approvals, performance evaluations, coaching, and other employee management responsibilities.
- Oversee the customer depot repair process from intake and assessment through repair and return, ensuring repairs meet Med One's quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
- Test the functionality and performance of medical equipment and perform accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements as required.
- Assemble, clean, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of medical equipment safely and efficiently.
- Oversee accurate invoicing and cost recovery for customer-damaged equipment, including parts, labor, lost accessories, and other applicable charges.
- Assist hospitals onsite with equipment setup, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and service as needed.
- Interface with hospital systems, healthcare professionals, customers, and other stakeholders to address equipment needs and resolve service issues.
- Complete required training, courses, and certifications to maintain competency and expertise in servicing medical equipment.
- Assist with the delivery, pickup, and/or shipment of medical equipment to hospitals and healthcare facilities as additional support when needed.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment while supporting a collaborative and team-oriented culture.
- Work a full-time, non-exempt schedule of approximately 40 hours per week, with overtime as needed based on workload and business needs.
Job Requirements: - Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- 6+ years of experience repairing, servicing, or maintaining medical equipment, specifically infusion pumps, patient monitors, ventilators, and hospital/bariatric beds.
- 4+ years of experience leading or managing a team, preferably in a Biomedical or healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge of troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, testing, and maintaining medical equipment.
- Ability to read schematics and interpret technical documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Experience managing repair workflows, prioritizing workload, and ensuring quality and efficiency standards are met.
- Experience with timecard approvals, PTO requests, employee evaluations, and other team management responsibilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose medical equipment issues both in-house and onsite at customer facilities.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with hospital staff, customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Knowledge of medical equipment safety, preventive maintenance, and quality control procedures.
- Ability to complete required training, courses, and certifications to maintain competency in medical equipment servicing.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer and hospital locations as needed.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and transport medical equipment as needed.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently while providing leadership and support to the team.
