Job Description:

Engineering Technical Services (ETS) at the Fulton Schools of Engineering is seeking a Lead Application Systems Analyst to provide technical leadership and direction for FSE enterprise infrastructure and platform engineering.

This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who enjoys building scalable systems, driving automation, and modernizing infrastructure through DevOps and cloud-first practices.

You will lead a team responsible for backend infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments, helping ETS transition from traditional operations to an automation-first, engineering-driven model.

This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, emphasizing automation-first design, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, Power Platform automation, and ServiceNow event-driven integrations.

The position establishes standards, and ensures reliable, scalable, and secure operations while driving continuous improvement through automation and modern engineering practices.

Position Salary Range:
  • $94,300 - $117,800 annually; DOE


Essential Duties:

Technical Leadership & Architecture
  • Provide technical leadership for FSE server and application infrastructure across Windows, Linux, and hybrid cloud environments (AWS, on-prem)
  • Define and evolve architecture standards for infrastructure, automation frameworks, identity integration, and operational tooling.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex infrastructure and integration challenges including Hyper-V virtualization, AWS cloud services, and Active Directory.
    • Guide decisions that prioritize security, scalability, reliability, and long-term sustainability


Infrastructure as Code & Automation
  • Lead adoption of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) across cloud and on-prem environments
  • Build and standardize automation frameworks for provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management
  • Establish reusable patterns to reduce configuration drift and technical debt
  • Drive a culture of version control, testing, and peer-reviewed infrastructure changes
  • DevOps & Platform Engineering
    • Design and manage CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and platform automation
    • Embed security, compliance, and validation controls into automated workflows
    • Apply DevOps practices to improve speed, consistency, and reliability of deployments
    • Lead development of Power Platform solutions to streamline operations and service delivery
  • Identify, prototype, and implement automation opportunities that eliminate manual or error-prone processes.


Integration & Intelligent Operations
  • Architect integrations with Active Directory and identity services
  • Lead development of ServiceNow event-driven automation for monitoring, incident response, and workflows
  • Improve observability through automated monitoring, alerting, and response mechanisms
  • Partner with enterprise teams to align with governance and security standards
  • Ensure identity and ServiceNow integrations adhere to enterprise governance and security standards.


Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience designing and automating infrastructure using Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code technologies across cloud (AWS or Azure) and on-premises (Hyper-V) environments supporting Windows and Linux servers.
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and platform automation.
  • Strong background in automation-driven operations, including configuration management and lifecycle automation.
  • Experience integrating infrastructure platforms with ServiceNow, including event-driven monitoring or workflow automation.
  • Experience developing Power Platform solutions (Power Automate, Power Apps) for operational or service workflows.
  • Deep knowledge of Active Directory architecture, identity integration, and security best practices.
  • Experience serving as a senior technical lead or principal engineer for enterprise platforms.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices applied to infrastructure and platform management.


Working Environment:
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities with quickly changing priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Position may involve shared offices, telecommuting, and working at Polytechnic Campus as needed
  • Some nights and weekends are required for User Acceptance Testing and Product updates
