Lead Accountant
As we continue to scale, we're seeking a strategic and detail-driven Lead Accountant to own critical elements of our financial operations. This high-impact role will partner directly with accounting, finance, and business leadership to drive financial clarity, operational efficiency, compliance, and scalable processes - paving the way for Wellfit's continued growth and market expansion.
What You'll Own
• Lead and support month-end and year-end close processes with speed, accuracy, and audit readiness.
• Own key accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, AR/AP workflows, invoice management, and cash-related accounting.
• Manage 1099 processing and filing, ensuring accurate vendor records, timely preparation, and compliance with reporting requirements.
• Support revenue accounting activities, including revenue share arrangements, customer contracts, and revenue recognition considerations under ASC 606.
• Analyze complex accounting transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatment in alignment with GAAP, internal policies, and business needs.
• Deliver financial reporting, account analysis, and variance analysis that support leadership decision-making.
• Support cash flow forecasting and optimization across multiple business units.
• Partner with FP&A, operations, and business stakeholders to build and maintain scalable accounting infrastructure.
• Support software capitalization processes, including internal-use software accounting and CapEx treatment related to developer hours, where applicable.
• Continuously refine accounting procedures to support automation, scalability, documentation, internal controls, and best-in-class compliance.
• Interface directly with external auditors and help drive successful audit outcomes.
• Support tax, audit, and compliance-related documentation as needed.
What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of public accounting experience or 5+ years in a high-growth corporate accounting environment; a hybrid of both is ideal.
• Hands-on experience across the full accounting lifecycle, including close, reconciliations, journal entries, AR/AP, cash management, purchasing, and expense control.
• Experience with revenue recognition, ASC 606, revenue share arrangements, or complex customer/vendor contract accounting strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to analyze complex accounting transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatment.
• Experience with 1099 processing and filing strongly preferred.
• Experience with software capitalization, internal-use software accounting, fixed assets, or CapEx treatment related to developer hours preferred.
• Expertise with NetSuite or similar ERP platforms.
• Deep fluency in GAAP, internal controls, financial compliance, and audit support.
• Exceptional analytical skills and a proactive approach to process improvement.
• Strong attention to detail, ownership mentality, and ability to manage recurring deadlines independently.
• A collaborative spirit with strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
Nice to Have
• Experience in SaaS, fintech, healthcare technology, payments, or other high-growth technology environments.
• Prior experience supporting audits, tax documentation, or compliance-related accounting workflows.
• Exposure to automation, accounting process improvement, or ERP optimization.
• CPA or CPA-track background.

$110,000 - $125,000 a year
