Position Summary:

The opportunity:

The Lead Analyst IT Business systems will work as a skilled team member tasked with strategically planning, implementing, optimizing, and ensuring reliable performance of Oracle Transportation Management (OTM), Global Trade Management (GTM) and associated logistics technologies throughout the North America operations. Acting as a vital part of the digital transformation journey, this role involves close collaboration with Logistics business function, IT Applications, IT Engineering, strategic vendor partners, ERP, Finance and MES operational technology teams to deliver IT Solutions, improve process, maintain operational efficiency, maintain IT Service standards and ensure IT regulatory & audit compliance.

The Lead Analyst IT Business systems will function as a strategic problem solver, working closely with business counterparts while collaborating with team members to understand organizational and operational challenges and deliver technology solutions in a cost-effective way. The role will implement new IT solutions, configuration, technical solutions, solution architecture, enhancements, maintenance from initial idea to the project completion and handles both project and budget management. Keep up to date on the latest technological innovations, AI, ML connected to Logistics OTM, GTM and Supply chain technology stack while supporting Logistics operational requirements and strategic business initiatives as we implement additional functionality and expand application roadmap.

Smurfit Westrock utilizes Oracle Transportation Management for sourcing, rate management, carrier management, carrier connectivity, transportation planning, and execution to plan, tender and settle shipments within NA supply chain operations. This position is managed by the Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) IT application team.

Based on the strategic objectives and priorities set by Logistics Supply Chain function and overall Corporate IT and organization's strategy, this role interacts with Business Process Owners & IT Community to develop and implement solutions as business requirements and priorities are established.

Be a key contributor to overall day-to-day management of OTM Operations, participate in end-to-end OTM, GTM and related technology software development and implementation lifecycle including discovery, blueprinting, solution delivery, production support while managing and maintaining service metrics as per organization's standards and requirements.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to drive innovation, enhancements, production support and roadmap expansion for business functions leveraging OTM, GTM and related technologies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, OTM configurator, and IT partner by interpreting business requirements to shape future processes and address operational challenges, thereby ensuring optimal system performance, enhanced user experience, and maximized business value.
  • Act as a business analyst and identify business requirements, map them to system capabilities. Establish and nurture robust, collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders throughout the NA Supply chain operations, IT, and other pertinent departments to ensure clear communication and enhance teamwork.
  • Deliver IT solution, design, blueprinting to implementation services of OTM, GTM technical services, including system implementation, configuration, testing, ongoing maintenance, reliability issue resolution, interface management, and reporting.
  • Define, implement, and promote processes, best practices and standards for application development and deployment including service-oriented architecture, reusable code, web usability, user experience, and security controls.
  • Setup testing and deploy OTM modules for logistics operations. Get involved in Production Support to run the business; Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve daily system issues, acting as a liaison between users and IT.
  • Provide expertise in Data & Technical Support with utilizing skills of SQL, PL/SQL, XML, and Java to manage data, interfaces, and system integrations.
  • Support carrier on-boarding, rate maintenance, and procurement functions.
  • Ensure seamless, reliable data flow and integration between the OTM layer, ERP, manufacturing & shop floor interfaces, financial systems for AP processes, Fuel calculations, custom and standard Rate applications.
  • Maintain continuous reliability and optimal performance of essential OTM, GTM and related logistics applications by implementing comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Oversee relationships and contractual agreements with principal OTM, GTM and related software vendors and implementation partners.
  • Enforce data governance policies to ensure the integrity and accuracy of production, quality, and performance data used for reporting and decision-making.


Technical Skills:
  • Superior knowledge of SQL (Oracle), OTM SaaS, On-Prem, GTM Cloud
  • OTM functional experience along with cloud implementations, upgrade required.
  • OTM, GTM end-to-end business process knowledge required.
  • Shipment Planning and tendering, shipment execution, rate management, domestic & export operations workflow
  • Knowledge of GTM
  • Invoicing and Voucher creation\Allocation
  • BT Fuel, SMC3 integration experience preferred.
  • Domestic and Export operations will be good to have.

Experience/Knowledge working with web Methods preferred.

  • Bachelors degree or minimum equivalent work experience of 10 years in IT, OTM application implementation, upgrade, support, and ERP technology operations.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%.
  • 5-7 years or more - Implementing and managing logistics applications in the paper Industry or related large manufacturing end-to-end supply chain processes.
  • 5-7 years or more - Technical experience in progressive accomplishments in implementations, upgrades, support for OTM, GTM and related technology enabled solutions to complex business problems in an end-to-end ERP solution setting.
