Work Arrangement: Hybrid (1-2 days onsite per week)

Foxhole Technology is seeking a Software Engineer who will design, develop, and maintain cloud-native web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, and NestJS. The successful candidate will integrate software solutions with relational databases, support production environments on AWS, and drive data quality. The engineer will work collaboratively in an agile scrum environment, contributing to deployment automation, documentation, and supporting testing activities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy cloud-native web applications using React, Next.js (frontend), and NestJS (backend), following a modular, service-oriented architecture.
  • Implement AWS-native infrastructure patterns including Lambda functions, API Gateway, S3, and ECS/Fargate in lieu of traditional IIS/server-based hosting.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient TypeScript/JavaScript code, adhering to NIST security requirements.
  • Integrate NestJS applications with relational databases (Oracle and/or PostgreSQL/Aurora).
  • Develop and maintain database objects including stored procedures, functions, and schema migrations using ORM tooling (e.g., TypeORM or Prisma).
  • Utilize database tools such as DBeaver, pgAdmin, or SQL Developer for development and troubleshooting.
  • Drive data quality initiatives and provide production support for database-related issues.
  • Participate in automated deployment processes using AWS-native tooling (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CloudFormation/CDK) or equivalent IaC frameworks.
  • Collaborate with team members to create and maintain deployment automation scripts and documentation.
  • Use CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, and Nexus to manage code repositories, build pipelines, and artifact storage.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and delivery processes to ensure rapid and reliable software releases.
  • Integrate web applications with multi-factor authentication (MFA) products such as OKTA and CyberArk.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Work in an agile scrum environment, actively participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including testers, to swarm stories and resolve issues quickly.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
  • Provide ongoing support to the testing teams, including troubleshooting, clarifying requirements, and resolving defects to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Utilize Jira Service Management for issue tracking, service requests, and project management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience developing and supporting enterprise web applications.
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications using React, Next.js, NestJS, and TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Experience deploying applications in AWS, including services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, ECS/Fargate, and Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation/CDK or equivalent).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, CodePipeline, CodeBuild, or similar tools.
  • Experience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, stored procedures, ORM frameworks, and performance tuning.
  • Experience implementing secure application development practices, including MFA integration (Okta/CyberArk) and NIST security standards.
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment with strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance required.

Virginia Pay Range

$140,000-$155,000 USD
