Description & Requirements

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented IT Specialist to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA. This is a on-site position.

As an IT specialist you will provide direct support to the Advance Electronic Systems (AES) team and its customers. You will be the point of contact for all IT related matters. This can include helping set up hardware or software, diagnosing connectivity or data access problems, answering questions about hardware or software, and helping users access shared drives and devices.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Execute the full System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from initial receipt of hardware/software through decommissioning. Plan system requirements by analyzing mission needs, hull-type variants, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) constraints; help define acceptance criteria and configuration baselines.
  • Design tailored system architectures and Secure Host Baseline (SHB) images using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK), and Group Policy. Develop PowerShell automation for naming conventions, policy enforcement (Microsoft Edge, Windows Defender), and post-build validation scripts to meet platform-specific requirements.
  • Implement configurations by building, testing, and duplicating SHB images across hull types. Apply Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Requirements Guides (SRGs) using Evaluate-STIG and STIG Viewer; conduct customization checks to verify mission-unique settings, peripherals, and software loads.
  • Verify and validate system readiness through comprehensive quality assurance (QA) testing. Execute functional, security, and performance validation; confirm STIG compliance, Nessus scan remediation, and Diagnostic and Recovery Toolset (DaRT) recovery functionality. Document test results, discrepancies, and corrective actions in configuration management records to support reliable deployment.
  • Deploy configured systems to operational units with high-reliability handoff. Create DaRT media using ADK PE and Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP); coordinate imaging operations, provide on-site or remote deployment support, and perform post-deployment validation to ensure operational readiness and mission continuity.
  • Operate and maintain systems in steady-state. Perform Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)/Nessus scanning, patch management, trouble ticket (TT) resolution, and vendor coordination for hardware/software faults. Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Fleet Advisory Messages, and lessons learned.
  • Retire and decommission systems at end-of-life. Execute data sanitization per DoD 5220.22-M, hardware disposition, and documentation closeout to ensure audit compliance and knowledge transfer for future hull types.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and 1 year of IT experience.
  • Security+ CE certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with network topology documentation in air-gapped environments.
  • Minimum of 1 year executing full SDLC in DoD environments.
  • ACAS Operator/Supervisor training.


Clearance Requirements:
  • Current and active Secret security clearance.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Often positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet
  • May be asked to move Audio/Visual or Computer equipment
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations


The projected compensation range for this position is $70,200.00-$117,000.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
