IT Operations Manager

The IT Operations Manager oversees daily IT service delivery to ensure reliable, secure, and highquality technology operations across the agency. This role leads IT teams and vendors, drives operational excellence, and ensures infrastructure, applications, and enduser services support mission needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daytoday IT operations across service desk, infrastructure, networks, cloud services, and business applications.
  • Manage incident, problem, request, and change processes to maintain strong service performance.
  • Guide IT staff and contractors, setting priorities and fostering accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure reliability of networks, servers, cloud environments, endpoints, and critical systems through proper monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle planning.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to maintain secure operations, address vulnerabilities, manage access, and meet compliance requirements.
  • Communicate outages, risks, and priorities to stakeholders while gathering feedback to enhance service quality.
  • Manage vendor relationships, performance, procurement support, and contract execution.
  • Track key metrics (service availability, incidents, satisfaction, lifecycle status, vulnerability compliance) and deliver regular operational reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize, automate, and improve IT operations while aligning to strategic goals and emerging mission needs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience with operational leadership.
  • Experience across multiple IT domains in government or regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of IT service management, cloud services, cybersecurity operations, infrastructure, and enduser support.
  • Proven vendor and contractor management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially with nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience with ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).

The likely salary range for this position is $123,250 - $166,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
