The Data & Analytics Division of King County Information Technology (KCIT) is seeking an
IT Manager - Data Integration for Applications to lead a group of motivated and experienced data engineers. They work on large enterprise projects, smaller enhancement requests, and provide operational support for what they build.
We are looking for a leader to provide staff mentoring, daily leadership, and technical direction to the team. We have some exciting projects and efforts that this position will be leading and/or participating in. This leader will be called upon to drive technology innovation to meet increasing customer expectations while at the same time ensuring that production systems are stable and operating as efficiently as possible. It is critical that this person has a strong technical aptitude along with strong leadership skills.

This IT Manager must be dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers
, knowing how to get things done both through formal and informal channels. They must spend their time and the time of others on what is important, anticipating and adjusting for problems and roadblocks
Job Duties - Responsible for overall leadership of a team of technical data engineers.
- Hire, manage, coach, train, discipline, and mentor staff of direct reports, developing performance measures and conducting performance evaluations.
- Communicate direction to staff, identifying objectives and goals, and serve as an escalation point for conflicting priorities.
- Coordinate and manage internal project activities, working with management to prioritize workloads.
- Keep abreast of the latest technologies.
- Working collaboratively with customer agencies to identify how the team can add value to their projects and daily operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills - At least 3 years experience designing, building, and supporting data integration solutions using Informatica or related technology.
- Previous experience in a leadership role is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex, technical concepts.
- Experience gathering business needs/requirements and translating those to technical specifications.
- Strong technical background with various Microsoft technologies.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, gaining their trust and respect.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Experienced in a variety of formal presentation settings; one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, direct reports and bosses.
- Skilled in accurately scoping out length of tasks and projects, setting objectives and goals, and can quickly sense what will help or hinder accomplishing a goal.
- Knowledgeable about how organizations work, hammering out tough agreements and settling disputes equitably with minimum noise.
- Skilled in establishing clear direction and bringing out the best in people by providing stretch tasks and assignments.
- Skilled in creating a feeling of belonging in a team, defining success in terms of the whole team, keeping the team focused on the goal and/or task
- Make good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS- Experience supervising or managing in a union environment
- Knowledgeable in software development lifecycle best practices
- Familiarity with PowerShell, Informatica, Microsoft APIM, and/or other technologies used when integrating data between systems
- Experience supporting web applications and technologies
Supplemental InformationHybrid Work: KCIT works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is the Chinook Building, 401 5th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104.
Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
Work Schedule: The normal workweek for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position may require after-hours escalation support.
FLSA Status: This position is FLSA Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay
Duration: This Special Duty Assignment is estimated for six months but may be subject to change.
