Full Job Description

Position Summary:

The IT Network Generalist is responsible for supporting and maintaining the network and technology infrastructure within a high-volume, temperature-controlled Perishable Distribution Center (PDC). This is a hands-on onsite (Orlando, FL) role Monday to Friday supporting warehouse operations where network availability directly impacts receiving, storage, picking, shipping, inventory management, voice picking, scanning, printing, and product movement.

The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of IT/networking experience and a strong interest in hands-on network support. The individual will work closely with Network Engineering, Infrastructure, Operations, Warehouse Technology, and third-party vendors to troubleshoot issues and maintain reliable technology services across the distribution center.

The environment includes Aruba Wireless, Aruba LAN switching, Fortinet SD-WAN, Honeywell Voice/VoCollect, Zebra printers, handheld scanners, RF devices, and other warehouse technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Infrastructure

  • Support day-to-day operation of the PDC network infrastructure.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Aruba wireless access points, Aruba switches, and network connectivity.
  • Perform basic configuration and troubleshooting of Aruba LAN and WLAN equipment.
  • Troubleshoot VLAN, DHCP, DNS, IP addressing, port connectivity, and network access issues.
  • Assist with switch port provisioning, device connectivity, and network changes.
  • Troubleshoot network outages and connectivity issues affecting warehouse operations.
  • Perform network health checks and proactively identify potential issues.
  • Escalate complex network issues to the Network Engineering team with appropriate troubleshooting information.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, device inventories, port assignments, and cable records.

  • Support wireless connectivity for handheld scanners, Honeywell Voice devices, tablets, printers, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Validate wireless connectivity and performance after equipment moves, construction changes, or network modifications.
  • Work with Network Engineering on wireless surveys, AP placement, and optimization activities.

Aruba/Zebra guidance specifically addresses roaming, RF behavior, QoS, and voice-enabled mobile devices, making these important skills for a warehouse-focused network support role.

Fortinet SD-WAN

  • Provide first-level support for Fortinet SD-WAN/FortiGate connectivity.
  • Monitor WAN connectivity and identify circuit, tunnel, or performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot basic LAN-to-WAN connectivity problems.

  • Validate SD-WAN connectivity following circuit or equipment changes.
  • Escalate complex firewall, routing, VPN, or SD-WAN issues to Network Engineering/Security teams.
  • Understand basic concepts of routing, NAT, VPN, firewall policies, and SD-WAN path selection.

  • Troubleshoot voice device connectivity, login, roaming, headset, and communication issues.
  • Support Honeywell voice equipment used by warehouse selectors and operators.
  • Work with warehouse operations and Honeywell support when voice picking issues occur.
  • Troubleshoot whether an issue is related to the device, wireless network, voice application, or backend system.
  • Assist with device provisioning, replacement, testing, and deployment.
  • Maintain spare voice devices and accessories as required.

Honeywell's voice-guided solutions are specifically designed for hands-free warehouse workflows, making network reliability and rapid troubleshooting particularly important in this environment.

  • Assist with device staging, configuration, replacement, and deployment.
  • Maintain inventory of handheld scanners, printers, charging stations, batteries, and accessories.
  • Coordinate with Zebra or application support when hardware or software issues require vendor assistance.
