Responsibilities Unit OverviewThe Interventional Radiology (IR) unit at GW Hospital is a specialized area where patients receive minimally invasive, image-guided procedures for a variety of complex conditions. The IR team works in a technologically advanced, fast-paced environment, providing high-quality care and collaborating closely with physicians, technologists, and nurses to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
Job Summary Our Interventional Radiology (IR) nurses provide specialized care for patients undergoing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures in a dynamic, collaborative setting. As an IR RN, you will support patients before, during, and after procedures, assist physicians with interventions, and ensure patient safety in a high-acuity environment focused on teamwork, innovation, and continuous learning.
Main Tasks- Prepare and monitor patients for IR procedures
- Administer moderate sedation and medications as needed
- Assist physicians during image-guided interventions
- Monitor patient status and document care throughout procedures
- Provide pre- and post-procedure education and support
- Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and other team members
- Respond to emergencies and participate in resuscitation efforts
Qualifications Required:- Current DC RN license (or eligible to obtain)
- BLS and ACLS (AHA-certified)
- Minimum 1 year critical care, emergency, or IR nursing experience
Preferred:- CRN or RCIS certification
- BSN degree
- Experience in high-acuity procedural settings
