Inventory Control Supervisor.

Job Summary

Walters is a growing, family-owned company, in search of an energetic, hardworking contributor. This position will have a wide range of responsibilities. Leader of inventory control team and responsible for ensuring the financial integrity of the company's inventory. Work with cross-functional partners, using root cause analysis, to identify opportunities for improvement. Implement and drive company best practices/routines. Also leads the welding and yard technician teams, and is responsible for the inventory of all residential carts, dumpsters, and commercial containers.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for inventory storeroom operations and manage the maintenance spare part supply chain process. Ensure best practices are in place for part specification, procurement, receipt and incoming inspection/testing, data entry into the CMMS, stocking, and issuance to technician.
  • Labor planning and scheduling of inventory control welding, and yard technician staff - Ensure all activities are completed timely, as labor availability and priorities change, utilizing all personnel effectively. Includes prioritizing and delegating ad hoc requests in cooperation with inventory operations personnel
  • Inventory Control Coordinator, Welder, and Yard Technician coaching and development - Attract, develop, and lead a highly skilled and motivated team
  • Drive continuous improvement - Work with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities for improvement and develop/implement best practices/routines
  • Cross-functional collaboration and influence - Identify and resolve root causes of inventory losses, working with cross-functional partners to problem solve and implement preventive measures
  • Inventory Adjustments weekly Routine - Working with the Controller; monitor and communicate performance KPI metrics. Analyze significant cycle count adjustments to identify root causes and communicate with the team
  • Monitor vendor performance by utilizing the Vendor Scorecard (VS) tool to evaluate and measure each party's level of satisfaction with the partnership and to guide Walters in vendor purchasing decision making. Work to minimize: vendor returns, purchase orders, shipping costs, and monitor vendor pricing.
  • Cart and container inventory - Responsible for the inventory of all residential carts, dumpsters, and commercial containers. Ensure new, refurbished, and retired units are received, staged, tracked, and dispositioned accurately, and that physical counts by size and type are reconciled to system records.
  • Cart and container repair flow - Work with Operations to move damaged carts and containers out of service and return repaired and cleaned units to inventory. Manage the repair queue and turnaround time to minimize the number of units sitting in the yard awaiting repair.
  • Welding team leadership - Lead the welding team responsible for container, roll-off box, and truck welding, as well as general light maintenance to equipment and the property. Prioritize and schedule repair work, verify repair quality and turnaround, and ensure required documentation is completed in the CMMS, including parts usage and repair times.
  • Yard technician team leadership - Lead the yard technician team responsible for cleaning and pressure washing carts, containers, and bins, moving units around the yard, cart inventory and cart repair, forklift operation, assisting operators and cart delivery drivers, fuel island inspection, operator care stations, and facility appearance including snow and ice removal.
  • Yard and shop safety - Ensure all work areas are kept clean and safe in compliance with company / OSHA standards, including hot work, PPE, chemical and compressed gas storage, and safe operation of pressure washing and forklift equipment.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related fields.
  • 5 years minimum experience in inventory control or warehousing required
  • Training in Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul Inventory (MRO) control preferred.
  • Experience in Dossier preferred.
  • Forklift training preferred but will be provided.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control procedures
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required
  • Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience and time management skills
  • Inspires followership of peers and team members
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in leading continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, etc.) preferred
  • Demonstrated experience supervising skilled trades and general labor personnel preferred.
  • Working knowledge of welding processes and shop safety requirements (hot work, ventilation, PPE) preferred.
  • Must have Valid Driver's License

Physical Requirements:
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled company. Employees operate standard office equipment including: telephone, headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, and copier/scanner. Physical tasks of job include: walking, sitting, standing, and bending.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and DOT health evaluation
  • This is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug testing requirements in compliance with 49 CFR Part 382, this does include marijuana testing.
