Hourly Pay Range:
$37.47 - $58.08 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

A Brief Overview:
Under the directions of the Staff Radiologist and IR Senior Manager, this positions performs and supervises procedures at a level of optimum technical quality, not requiring constant supervision. Performs a variety of technical and clerical duties that will require independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative to apply special procedure examinations. Assumes responsibility for specific special procedures examinations and/or may be assigned duties, as requested.

What you will do:
  • Produces Angiography examinations at a level of optimum technical quality.
  • ARRT, IDNS, BLS certification (CPR).
  • Post-graduate experience preferred and a minimum of 2 years general experience in Radiology completed for on the job training.
  • Good written and verbal skills to effectively communicate with patients and physicians.
  • Reviews and completes required forms and required data for hospital computer systems.
  • Participates equally in rotating On-call schedule.
  • Maintains adequate levels of inventory in Q-sight and/or notifying appropriate person.
  • Successfully completes and maintains Level I competencies as stated above.

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of all department IR x-ray equipment and IR supplies.
  • Manages and maintains inventory in Q-sight under the supervision of Lead Tech
  • Participates equally in rotating On-call schedule.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform all routine and emergent IR exams independently.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of departmental software to manage patient schedules, requisitions, charges, image processing, and image transfer.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of RIS (Radnet) and PACS.
  • Participates in IR lab projects and/or data collection.
  • Assumes managerial responsibilities when appropriate.
  • Acts as a resource for staff members, patients, physicians etc.
  • Assists in staff training and orientation of Level I technologists.
  • Rotates to IR labs at NorthShore facilities, as needed.
  • Successfully completes and maintains Level I and II competencies as stated above.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Maintains On-call and staffing schedules.
  • Assumes additional managerial responsibilities, e.g. involvement in Performance Improvement Committees and projects outside immediate IR clinical setting.
  • Assist others to solve problems and/or manage conflicts.
  • Q-sight maintenance and report generation
  • Ensures continuity of staff training (Levels I and II) and involvement in the direction of student (outside affiliations) clinical hours.
  • Rotates to IR labs at NorthShore facilities, as needed.
  • Successfully completes I, II and III competencies as stated above.
  • Q-sight maintenance and report generation
  • Manages all aspects of IR inventory
  • Oversees physician dictations. (I.e. notifies of undictated reports in a timely fashion)
  • Proficient in IR coding/billing. Functions as coding/billing liaison to hospital coders.
  • Assumes all aspects of managerial responsibilities including but not limited to staff schedule, annual reviews, actively participates in departmental initiatives, etc.
  • Functions as Charge Person in the IR Lab as necessary
  • Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good communication with radiologists, attending physicians, departmental supervisors, staff members, and all other hospital personnel and customers.
  • Must be able to fit in add-ons, stat cases and inpatients in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Maintains a high standard of patient satisfaction, as encouraged by the C.A.R.E. Committee.
  • Maintains a positive supportive work environment with co-workers.
  • Attends CPR classes to maintain re-certification.
  • Maintains appropriate state license and national board certification.
  • Completes all paperwork and submits films to a radiologist in a timely manner.
  • Assists in filing of films and retrieval of reports at all sites.
  • Works as diagnostic radiology technologist, as needed (producing non-angiographic radiographs).
  • Acts as receptionist as needed.
  • Answers phones with proper etiquette.
  • Assists in training of new technologist personnel.
  • Assists with transporting of patients as needed to maintain department work flow.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and emergency callback.
  • Ensures adequate staffing and coverage including on-call coverage, as required.
  • May be required to work at other NorthShore off-site facilities to accommodate patients or to maintain adequate staffing levels and past scheduled hours.
  • Reviews and records Pathology and Surgical Findings reports to determine the accuracy of the Angiography examination diagnosis.
  • Reports environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel.
  • Labels all examinations appropriately, following department's established criteria and standards.
  • Films according to protocols as outlined in procedure manual.
  • Demonstrates collimation and shielding according to Department protocols for radiation safety.
  • Determination of appropriate exposure factors and positioning of patient, utilizing immobilization devices when appropriate, to insure optimum film quality.
  • Prepares patients for exam: obtains and records history, explains procedure, positions patients, and ensures their comfort.
  • Introduces oneself to patient.
  • Adheres to isolation/sterile techniques and radiation safety procedures.
  • Verifies patient and procedure prior to starting exam.
  • Performs exams, meeting all age-specific criteria. (i.e.; performs exams on all age groups, using appropriate technique.)
  • Selects proper technical parameters on automatic exposure control devices.
  • Explains procedure and uses a considerate and tactful manner in communicating need for additional films.
  • Ensures cleanliness of equipment and work area.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies in work area.
  • Identifies supplies and equipment needs for procedure. Restocks work area as needed.
  • Utilizes proper film screen combinations according to body part being radiographed.
  • Utilizes and maintains exposure technique charts where needed.
  • Prepares correct identification and processing of films and submits pertinent radiographs or previous examinations for comparison.
  • Monitors patients' condition during procedures.
  • Complies with procedural standards in the care of children and adult population.
  • Assists with proper positioning and restraining of children and elderly patients, as necessary.
  • Assists with patient/family participation in post-procedural care for all age groups and provides resource information, as directed.
  • Reinforces appropriate psychosocial interventions based on age and developmental status.
  • Reassures children and aging patients.
  • Interacts with families as so determined by need of case.
  • Determines patient comfort and assesses the patient's condition while in the Radiology Department.
  • Appropriate types of immobilization and support devices, when needed.
  • Solves minor scheduling problems for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Deviations from departmental policies and procedures.
  • Conflicts which are not individually solvable.
  • All patient and employee incident reports.
  • Responsible for ensuring equipment maintenance and repairs. Initiates and records service calls when needed.
  • Required to work minimum of (3) three 8-hour shifts per month.
  • Inactive hours exceed (3) three months, position to be terminated.
What you will need:
  • High School Required
  • Previous experience as an Angiography technologist required. Proficiency in IR Inventory required. Familiar with IR coding/billing
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and interact effectively and pleasantly with a wide variety of individuals.
  • High school graduate or equivalent and graduate of an accredited school of radiology Required And
  • Certificate or associate Degree in Radiology, ARRT registered, IDNS licensed, Current CPR certification Required
