The Role

The Intermediate Software Developer (Full Stack) is a hands-on contributor within the Axonify Development Team, building features and products that span backend services and frontend user interfaces. This role takes clear ownership of well-defined problems and delivers high-quality solutions with confidence and independence. Working closely with peers across the Development team, the Intermediate Software Developer contributes to technical discussions, keeps pace with a fast-moving codebase, and brings genuine care for the craft to everything they build.

What You'll Build

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support high-quality code across both backend services and frontend user interfaces.
• Contribute to architecture and design discussions, and help evaluate trade-offs around scaling, reliability, and maintainability.
• Build robust user interfaces using HTML5 technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript ES2017, TypeScript, React) across browsers and platforms.
• Develop backend services (Java, GoLang, Python) that make up the core Axonify solution, with attention to performance and data quality.
• Use AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) as part of your daily workflow to improve productivity and code quality.
• Participate in code reviews, giving and receiving feedback that improves the quality and consistency of the codebase.
• Identify and flag technical debt, and contribute ideas for how to address it.
• Break down development tasks into clear, manageable pieces and execute them reliably.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Quality Assurance to refine requirements and ensure your work meets a high bar for quality.
• Share what you're learning - whether that's a new pattern, a tool, or a better way of doing something - with the people around you.

What You'll Bring

• 4+ years of full-stack software development experience with modern frontend frameworks and backend services.
• Solid experience with React and TypeScript; familiarity with JavaScript design patterns and RESTful single-page apps.
• Backend development experience in Java, GoLang and/or Python, including working with data structures, relational databases, and SQL.
• Some hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot) as part of a daily development workflow.
• Comfortable working independently on well-defined problems and seeing them through to completion.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to unit and functional testing.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and application infrastructure concepts - containers, caching, and distributed systems - is an asset.
• Experience building AI-driven applications, chat and agent based products and features, working with LLMs, or using frameworks like LangChain or Google ADK is considered a strong asset.
• Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical aptitude gained through post-secondary education, hands-on experience, or both.

Work Location

This role is open to candidates who are located in, and authorized to work in, Canada, with working hours aligned to the Eastern Time Zone. Strong preference will be given to candidates who are located within a commutable distance of our Waterloo office.

Competitive Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this role is:

• $103,200 - $129,000 - $154,800 CAD for candidates based in Canada

This range reflects growth from building capability in the role to fully excelling over time, with most new hires joining near the midpoint. Actual salaries may vary within the range, or above or below it, based on factors such as experience, skills, location, and business needs.
