Full Job Description
Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP is seeking an Associate to join its Insurance Products Group, a premier regulatory practice, to work on sophisticated matters at the intersection of insurance and securities regulation. This position is open in our New York or Washington, D.C. offices.

Eversheds Sutherland's Insurance Products Group has decades of experience advising life insurance companies on the complex laws and business relationships involved in the development, registration, administration, and distribution of life and retirement products. It is the nation's leading practice on the regulation of insurance contracts by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (e.g., variable and index-linked annuities and life insurance policies).

Associates in the Insurance Products Group work closely with Partners who are widely recognized for their expertise in insurance and securities regulation. The position offers direct mentorship, hands-on experience, and the opportunity to develop deep, market leading expertise in insurance and securities regulation.

Key experience, skills, and responsibilities:
  • Experience: 2-5 years of regulatory compliance experience (law firm, regulator, or in-house) focused on (a) the U.S. federal securities laws (i.e., the Investment Company Act of 1940, Securities Act of 1933, or Securities Exchange Act of 1934) and/or (b) insurance regulation
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks
  • Commitment to building expertise in a specialized area of law and immersion into the insurance industry
  • Effective project and time management skills
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Direct engagement with clients, regulators, and industry associations

The Insurance Products Group is part of Eversheds Sutherland's broader Insurance group, which is ranked as "Band 2" with Chambers USA.

We provide our employees with:
  • Interesting work with industry-leading practices and an impressive client list.
  • Significant practical training, informal training, and formal training programs.
  • An approachable and supportive culture. We are guided by our five core values of collaboration, inclusivity, openness, creativity, and professionalism in all that we do as a Firm.
  • A commitment to programs that identify ways to create and maintain a culture that reflects our values when it comes to inclusion, representation, and opportunity. We appreciate the significant role diverse perspectives play in our service to clients and our development.
  • Thorough benefits options and thoughtful wellness programs.

We invite any qualified candidate who would like to become a valued contributor to an established and talented team of attorneys to "Apply Now" with your resume, transcripts, and writing sample.

The Associate position requires in-office presence three days per week. The salary is commensurate with years of relevant experience & geographic location. The salary range for our Associate position is $235,000-365,000.
