SUMMARY The position provides expert advice on all aspects of curriculum development, including the effective design, development, and delivery of training for all BCFSA Continuing Education and Applied Practice courses. Participates in the assessment of the training needs of licensees, translating needs analysis into detailed training materials and classroom design. Supports ongoing developments and improvements in the effectiveness of training content and various delivery methods, including online and in-class. Provides on-going instructional support for instructors.
ACCOUNTABILITIES - Working in collaboration with the program development team, develop content and instructional design and delivery components of BCFSA's continuing education, applied practice and consumer education program for its regulated entities and individuals to impart legal principles, regulatory knowledge, practice requirements, and procedures in various aspects of real estate, and mortgage law, as well as other BCFSA segments.
- In multiple segments of the business provides strategic direction, functional oversight, and broad and in-depth expertise and knowledge to lead the instructional development and delivery of mandatory courses.
- Conducts research, analysis, and evaluation, identifying issues related to practice requirements for multiple segments of business, for the purpose of developing materials and instructional techniques that will have significant long-term impact through the education provided to the sector.
- Acts as subject matter expert on all aspects of curriculum development, including the effective design, development and delivery of training to enhance student comprehension and encourage student participation and application of concepts.
- Engages with internal and external stakeholders, regulated entities, and broader financial services sector, building constructive and collaborative relationships to advance BCFSA's educational goals and strategy, reputation, and credibility.
- Participates in the development of policy and procedural solutions to organizational and regulatory challenges consistent with BCFSA's culture, establishing credibility within the organization, with licensees, the financial services sector including real estate and mortgage brokers, and the public.
- Contributes to the team's development of internal work practices (e.g., policies, procedures, and tools).
- Provides orientation and training to internal and/or external stakeholders on instructional strategies/design.
- Contributes to, participates in, and supports organizational business transformation initiatives.
JOB REQUIREMENTS - 5 years of experience in Instructional Design, Adult Education, or content development
- Demonstrated instructional design and curriculum development skills.
- Knowledge of best practices in needs assessment, instructional design, curriculum development and training delivery.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Ability to exercise critical thinking and reasoning skills to respond to a broad range of diverse and complex issues.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Independent decision making and excellent judgement.
EDUCATION - Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education and/or a related field. Equivalent education and experience will also be considered.
