Full Job Description
Deaconess Illinois Medical Center is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Infection Control team. In this role, you will lead hospital-wide efforts to prevent and control infections, ensuring patient safety while collaborating across departments in a supportive environment.

Role Overview:
You will develop, implement, and maintain infection prevention and control programs that comply with regulations and national guidelines. Responsibilities include staff education, surveillance, data reporting, outbreak investigations, and collaboration with quality and safety teams. Reports to the Director/Manager of Quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and evaluate infection prevention programs; conduct assessments and implement corrective actions.
  • Educate staff, patients, and caregivers on infection prevention and control practices.
  • Collect, analyze, and report infection data; serve as NHSN Administrator.
  • Monitor compliance with CDC, SHEA, APIC, IDPH, CMS, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Conduct outbreak investigations and special studies; support interdisciplinary teams in implementing improvement strategies.

Education & Experience:
  • Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology
  • Minimum 3 years of acute care experience

Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention and epidemiology principles
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret regulations, and prepare reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent oral and written communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Licenses & Certifications:
  • Current Illinois RN License required
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within 3 years of hire

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Hourly: $31.25-$46.88
