Overview
This job contributes to REI's success by supporting engineered labor standards (ELS), labor management systems, and process design and optimization across the distribution center network. This role partners closely with distribution center leadership to ensure labor standards are accurate, sustainable, and aligned with operational best practices. This role serves as a trusted thought partner to DC Operations, Production Control (PC), Continuous Improvement (CI), and cross-functional stakeholders. This role is responsible for leading the design, deployment, and governance of engineered labor standards (ELS), optimizing labor management systems (LMS), and architecting solutions that enhance productivity, reduce cost, and improve the team member experience at scale. Models and acts in accordance with REI's guiding values and mission.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
• Develop standard work instructions with DC Operations teams to ensure validity and team member alignment.
• Support the development, validation, and maintenance of engineered labor standards (ELS) using time studies, historical data, and predetermined time systems (e.g., MOST, MSD, MTM).
• Detect gaps between observed time and labor standards, and develops key insights to improve productivity.
• Serve as the technical SME for LMS integrations, performance tracking, and labor standard configurations in partnership with CI, operations, and Warehouse Management Systems IT (WMIT).
• Collaborate with DC Operations, LMS Analyst, and Warehouse Functional Analysts to ensure labor standards are integrated into Labor Management Systems (LMS) and used effectively for performance tracking
• Conduct performance audits and observations to identify deviations from standards and drive corrective action or refinement.
• Analyze and evaluate methods for optimal operations. Outline alternatives for processes, equipment, and system design
• Provide analytical decision support using core Industrial Engineering skills, mathematical tools, modeling and computational methods for system analysis, evaluation, and optimization
• Develop and standardize network-wide processes and best practices that improve throughput, labor efficiency, and safety while reducing operational variability.
• Collect data and perform complex data analysis to understand current state conditions that will be used to drive continuous improvement ideas, capacity analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and change initiatives and projects.
• Develops knowledge of DC best practices and engineering standards. Leverages best practices and engineering standards in the development of engineered labor standards to reduce variation in measured tasks.
• Utilize existing AutoCAD layouts to support XYZ data mapping for warehouse travel calculations.
• Performs machine speed testing that involves timing various pieces of equipment horizonal, vertical, and turning speeds.
• Utilizes project management methodologies to manage labor standards refreshes.
• Work closely with LMS Analyst to develop LM tool and reports to enable leadership to quickly and accurately track and assess performance.
Required Skills:
• 8+ years of Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing experience
• 2+ years using Manhattan Associates Labor Management software or similar labor
management software
• Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
• Certification in one or more predetermined time systems, preferably MOST or MTM
• Experience developing and implementing engineered labor standards and LMS
integrations across multi-site operations
• Prior experience with Distribution/Fulfillment center environment
Preferred Skills:
• Project management certification (PMP) or equivalent job experience
• Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrated application of structured problem-solving
methodologies.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and SQL
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and statistical tools
Pay Range
$85,400.00 - $136,700.00 per year
