Qualifications

  • Current Province of Ontario Industrial Electrician License
  • 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food, beverage, dairy, or pharmaceutical industry

  • Thorough knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Experience with industrial electrical power systems, PLCs, motors, VFDs, and industrial communication systems
  • Ability to create simple drawings, ladder diagrams, and single circuit diagrams
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose malfunctioning electrical apparatus and replace damaged wires and cables
  • Repair and replace electric and electronic components like motors, relays, and PLCs
  • Install, examine, and repair electric wiring and components
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment as per instructions
  • Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers and VFDs on machinery
  • Test for malfunctions, verify repairs, and document programming changes
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations

Your role in achieving results:

  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, VFDs, electrical instrumentation and sensors, lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires and cables;

  • Repairs and replaces electric and electronic components such as motors, contactors, relays, switches or sensors, PLC’s, light curtains, motor controls, VFDs, etc;

  • Installs, examines, replace or repair electric wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components;

  • Performs preventive and predictive maintenance on production and production supporting equipment as outlined in the individual work instructions;

  • Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers and VFD’s on packaging and processing machinery;

  • Test for malfunctions, verify repairs and document of all programming changes;

  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health,safety and environmental rules and regulations including the use of personal protective equipment;

  • Be willing to upgrade skills to deal with new technology, including the use of acomputerized maintenance management system (CMMS);

  • Work with operators and other trades as required to achieve satisfactory results;

  • Support the development of autonomous, preventive, and predictive maintenance programs.

What we are looking for to deliver these results:

  • A current Province of Ontario Industrial Electrician License;

  • 3 years of maintenanceexperience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food, beverage, dairy, or pharmaceutical industry (asset);

  • Experience in troubleshooting with Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC and FactoryTalk View HMI and SCADA system;

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code;

  • Experience with industrial electrical power systems, industrial control systems, PLC’s, motors, VFD’s, and industrial communication systems;

  • Able to create simple drawings, ladder diagrams and single circuit diagrams;

  • Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, MP2 database system) (asset);

  • Work independently or in team with little to no supervision;

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English;

  • Must also be familiar with WHMIS, GMP’s and good health and safety work practices.
