Full Job Description
Leidos is seeking an experienced ICS/SCADA & Critical Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Reston, Virginia. This role focuses on understanding commercial and heavy industrial facilities, as well as the interoperability of systems managed through Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Building Management Systems (BMS).

The ideal candidate will bring a creative yet practical approach to identifying and solving complex challenges involving interconnected facility systems. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

As part of an interdisciplinary team of government and contractor personnel, you will conduct strategic and critical facility analysis with a focus on industrial control systems. Work is performed in a fast-paced, high-energy environment within a government SCIF facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use tradecraft exploitation tools, intelligence sources, and engineering expertise to characterize selected facilities.
  • Provide engineering insight and technical judgment throughout the characterization process to produce accurate intelligence assessments.
  • Develop formal products and deliverables that meet customer requirements.
  • Support the development of innovative approaches to solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Brief senior officials on capability trends, findings, and analytical assessments.


Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance, or Top Secret clearance with a current SSBI and eligibility to obtain TS/SCI with polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience. A doctorate in a technical discipline may be considered.
  • Degree in a STEM field (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline) and relevant professional certifications.
  • 5+ years of experience with industrial control systems and/or complex building management systems.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems.
  • Strong background in control systems and electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with complex industrial process controls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief senior government officials.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Military or defense-related experience.
  • Experience with:
    • Rockwell PLCs (or comparable platforms), HMI, and SCADA programming.
    • Allen-Bradley, FactoryTalk View, GE Fanuc, Modicon, Schneider Electric, Siemens S7, DeltaV, Wonderware, and Emerson Ovation.
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
    • Building Management Systems (BMS), Access Control Systems (ACS), Video Management Systems, industrial HVAC, and central utility plant operations.
    • Industrial processes in water/wastewater treatment, nuclear facilities, data centers, cogeneration plants, and combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) environments.
    • Complex cooling system design, including cooling towers, chillers, UPS systems, and power monitoring.
  • Cybersecurity and/or penetration testing experience.
  • IT and networking certifications such as CISSP, SSCP, CEH, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with packet capture and network analysis tools, including Wireshark, NetworkMiner, GrassMarlin, SCEPTRE, HELICS, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
