This position provides second-shift operational support for BMO's enterprise Managed File Transfer environment, with primary responsibility for monitoring and supporting IBM Sterling File Gateway production file transfer services. The role is focused on operational monitoring, incident response, service restoration, and stakeholder communication to ensure critical business file transfers are successfully delivered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work second shift, Monday through Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM Central Time.
  • Monitor the IBM Sterling File Gateway platform and associated file transfer infrastructure to ensure successful processing, routing, and delivery of business-critical files.
  • Investigate and resolve file transfer failures by replaying transactions, correcting routing issues, or coordinating resolution activities with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with business units, third-party clients and vendors, and the BMO Systems Operations Center to triage incidents and restore service within established service level expectations.
  • Perform production and QA environment health checks at the beginning of each shift to confirm platform availability and functionality.
  • Escalate identified issues to the appropriate support teams and provide clear documentation of findings and actions taken.
  • Provide business verification and operational validation support for infrastructure changes, including network and system maintenance activities that may impact Sterling File Gateway services.
  • Communicate operational status, incidents, and shift handoff information effectively to third-shift support and dayshift personnel and management.

Position Scope

This is an operations-focused role centered on monitoring, incident management, and service restoration.

The position does not include responsibility for implementing production changes, performing application upgrades, modifying infrastructure configurations, or executing planned maintenance activities. When environmental changes or engineering support are required, issues are escalated to the day-shift administration and engineering teams for resolution.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience administering IBM Sterling File Gateway in a production environment.
  • Experience with secure file transfer technologies and protocols, including SFTP.
  • Minimum 2 years Red Hat System Administrator experience
  • Experience with IBM Connect:Direct (NDM) file transfer concepts, configurations, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve production issues.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and ability to work effectively with business partners, vendors, and technical support teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective during high-pressure production incidents.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, decision-making capability, and appropriate escalation management.

$63,300.00 - $117,200.00
