Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a HR Generalist.
This position is located in San Diego, Ca and reports to our HR Director.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing day-to-day HR support to managers and employees, supporting a broad range of HR functions with a strong emphasis on employee relations, compliance, and performance management. This role is responsible for both resolving workplace issues, ensure consistent application of policies, and promote a positive and compliant work environment. This role also supports HR systems, reporting, and general HR programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Employee Relations & Workplace Investigations
- Manage and resolve employee relations issues in a timely, professional, and consistent manner
- Conduct thorough, objective, and well-documented workplace investigations
- Partner with managers to determine appropriate resolutions, corrective actions, and risk mitigation strategies
- Provide guidance on conflict resolution, workplace behavior, and employee concerns
- Identify trends in employee relations matters and recommend proactive solutions
Performance Management & Manager Support
- Partner with managers to drive effective performance management practices
- Coach leaders on employee development, feedback, accountability, and difficult conversations
- Support and guide corrective actions, performance improvement plans, and terminations
- Build manager capability to address employee issues confidently and appropriately
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and ensure compliance
- Interpret and apply HR policies consistently across the organization
- Recommend updates to policies and procedures to align with legal requirements and business needs
- Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees in all HR practices
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and sound judgment
HR Operations, Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate HRIS data and employee records
- Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping in compliance with company policies and legal requirements
- Analyze HR metrics (e.g., turnover, attendance, employee relations trends) and provide actionable insights
- Support audits, reporting requirements, and data analysis initiatives
Employee Experience & Engagement
- Support initiatives that enhance employee engagement, morale, and retention
- Partner on employee surveys and assist in developing and tracking action plans
- Contribute to a positive employee experience across the full employee lifecycle
- Assist with onboarding processes and ensure a smooth new hire experience
Training, Development & Organizational Support
- Support training and development initiatives
- Assist in performance review and compensation processes
- Support organizational changes and help leaders navigate transitions effectively
- Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, and other internal teams to ensure seamless HR service delivery
- Serve as a trusted resource for managers and employees on HR-related matters
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred
- Spanish speaking preferred
- 3-7+ years of HR Generalist or HR Business Partner experience
- Strong experience handling employee relations issues and workplace investigations
- Experience supporting performance management and disciplinary processes
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with HRIS systems and employee data management
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Compensation:
The compensation range for this position falls within $80,000 and $95,000. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset, and other factors permitted by law.
