Full Job Description
Position Summary
Bertelsmann is seeking a highly organized and proactive HR Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations across our New York and affiliated companies in North America. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing operational execution with employee-facing support. As part of the HR team, you will play a key role in delivering a seamless employee experience across the full lifecycle, from onboarding through offboarding, while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistency.

The HR Generalist is part of the HR & Benefits team, responsible for delivering both strategic and operational HR services across the organization. The team manages a range of HR initiatives and functions, including recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, compensation, talent management, learning and development, payroll, and benefits. In partnership with your team members, you will help drive key HR programs, support managers and employees, and contribute to a positive and engaging workplace culture.

This role reports to the Director, HR & Payroll.

Role and Responsibilities
• Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including coordination with IT, Security, Payroll, Benefits, and internal stakeholders
• Facilitate new hire orientations and ensure a smooth employee onboarding experience
• Maintain accurate employee records and ensure proper documentation and data integrity across HR systems
• Administer and communicate company policies, programs, and perks
• Respond to employee and manager inquiries, providing timely and high-quality support
• Support immigration-related processes in partnership with internal stakeholders and external counsel
• Assist with HR reporting, data validation, and system updates (UKG and HRC)
• Support audit activities and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations
• Maintain proper document retention practices in line with company policies and legal requirements
• Assist in driving employee engagement efforts, including surveys, events, and internal initiatives
• Support the execution of the performance management cycle (goal setting, mid-year, and year-end reviews)
• Partner with hiring managers and internal stakeholders to ensure an efficient hiring process
• Support full-cycle recruitment, including job description development, candidate coordination, and offer preparation
• Coordinate and support learning and development initiatives and company-wide programs
• Assist and support additional HR projects and perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required (or equivalent experience).
• 3-5 years of work experience in human resources, preferably in a professional service or consulting environment
• Experience supporting multiple functions or business units preferred
• Familiarity with HRIS systems (UKG preferred)
• SHRM or PHR certification preferred
