We have an excellent opportunity for a Full-time Human Resources Business Partner based in our Irvine, CA office *. The HR Business Partner (HRBP) supports our restaurant operations teams with a strong focus on employee relations. This role works closely with multi-unit leaders to address workplace concerns, guide managers through HR processes, and help maintain a positive, compliant, and people-focused environment across all assigned locations.

*This position is full-time, in-office only.

General Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on a broad array of HR issues, including coaching, counseling, performance management, workplace accommodations, conflict resolution, engagement, compensation and building positive work environments.
  • Conduct internal investigations on workplace situations that may be highly sensitive, confidential, or complex and prepare all required documentation with a focus on issue resolution.
  • Partner with managers on the development of corrective action and implementation of performance improvement plans.
  • Responsible for the interpretation of HR policies and procedures, while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide analysis and recommend appropriate action and education to managers and/or associates on specific HR issues.
  • Apply knowledge of progressive HR practices and key trends to address business issues related to areas such as training, engagement, staffing, and retention.
  • Contribute to the development and facilitation of training seminars for leaders on various HR topics.
  • Provide leadership development and training to all levels of Management to enable them to coach their team members effectively.
  • Collaborate with HR peers to evaluate and to develop innovative programs and services.
  • Utilize company HCM systems to provide management with valid and actionable HR data, KPI's, and dashboards.
  • Consult with Compensation on the Company philosophy around the merit and promotion processes, as well as supporting the Performance Appraisal process.
  • Engage in other associate relations duties and complete HR projects as needed.
Skills Needed

  • Associate Support & Conflict Resolution: Act as the go-to person for Associate concerns, complaints, and workplace conflicts. Helps resolve issues fairly and with care.
  • Policy Guidance & Compliance: Advises managers and Associates on HR policies, performance management, and labor law fundamentals. Help to make sure decisions align with company standards and legal requirements
  • Case Management: Investigates Associate relations cases, documents findings, and helps resolve issues like misconduct, harassment, or policy violations.
  • Coaching: Partners with managers to guide Associate and leadership conversations, helping associates understand areas for growth and development. Delivers workshops on HR topics to Shift Managers.
  • Communication & Documentation: Handles a high volume of HR inquiries and drafts clear, professional documentation to support decisions and case outcomes

Work Schedule + Benefits

  • Full-time, Exempt
  • May choose between a standard Monday-Friday schedule or a 9/80 compressed workweek, with core hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The 9/80 schedule provides either every other Monday or every other Friday off. Occasional Saturday shifts (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) are required, approximately five times per year.
  • Some scheduling flexibility and travel is required for off-site meetings and/or field visits.

  • Pay Range: $95,200-$117,000
  • The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. Equivalent experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Must have 2-6+ years of Human Resources and Associate Relations experience working with large hourly workforces and applying various states labor laws.
  • Strong preference for experience gained in multi-site foodservice or retail environments.
  • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to build trusting partnerships across the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to invoke change by influencing rather than directing management.
  • Ability to strategically analyze data and examine issues while identifying themes and creating solutions.
  • Associate relations, employment law, compensation, performance management, and recruitment skills.
  • Professional and confidential in all interactions with proven coaching and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills required.
  • Outstanding organizational skills: including the ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines, as well as multi-task in a fast-paced environment. This position requires approximately 10% travel to both local and out of state locations.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) is a plus.
  • HR Certification (SHRM/PHR) a plus


Work Location Details

In-N-Out Burger plans to bring its West Coast headquarters team back together under one roof by the end of 2029. After maintaining two Southern California office locations for many years, the company will permanently close its Irvine office in 2029 and once again headquarter the company's western territory solely in Baldwin Park, California, where the company was founded in 1948.

Newly hired Associates in Irvine will be eligible to participate in the group move to Tennessee with relocation assistance or work from our western headquarters in Baldwin Park, CA, upon its opening in 2029.
