Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As a Human Resources Business Partner supporting Commercial Banking's Corporate Client Group, you will provide strategic advice and counsel to Senior Leaders and their respective leadership teams on all aspects of human resources including talent management, organizational design, change management, workforce management, leadership, employee development, performance management and rewards and recognition.

What outcomes will you drive?

The following are key outcomes that you will drive in the HRBP role. Although listed separately, they often overlap, and one influences the other. Your role will require you to constantly prioritize, re-prioritize, and integrate these outcomes:
  • HR Strategy Execution. In your role, it will be key that you understand HR's Talent strategy and are working with the Leaders to determine people and organization implications for their teams. You will be an active force in imagining how the strategies apply and in determining local initiatives to ensure they are executed within the teams you support.
  • Business Strategy Execution. The Leaders you support will be designing strategies to achieve business objectives. You will participate in the development of those strategies, and anticipate the impact of people on the organization so that they can be fully considered in the design and implementation of those strategies.
  • Organization Development and Change. Recognizing that the context within which people work (e.g. the organization structure, reward/compensation systems, leadership, their teams, and culture) all have an effect on their productivity and enjoyment, you will help Leaders utilize these levers to achieve desired results and engagement while helping people to adopt any associated changes.
  • Talent Sourcing, Performance and Development. You will partner with the leadership team to build organizational capability through talent acquisition and assessment. You will identify development opportunities that enhance current performance, build future leadership bench strength, and ensure the organization develops the skills needed for evolving business priorities. This includes guiding performance, development, and succession planning cycles, as well as providing strategic feedback and coaching to leaders to strengthen their effectiveness and readiness for evolving business needs.
  • Advice and Consultation. The people-related questions and issues a Leader faces every day are as unique as the individuals that make up RBC. You will partner effectively with the Leaders and with other sources of expertise in HR to provide your best advice and counsel on how to resolve issues and concerns in a way that meets the needs of the individual and the organization. You will also be conversant with HR Data and its analysis so that you can inform decision-making and recommend actions around important topics such as Respect, Engagement and all other outcomes listed here.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma.
  • 5+ years' experience in Human Resources, with some portion of that working directly with senior leaders.
  • Ability to prioritize high volume, competing priorities for multiple stakeholders and in turn deliver balance of advice and counsel with strong execution capabilities.
  • Ability to understand, assess and respond to complex situations and provide strategic and innovative solutions to drive results.
  • Strong relationship management capabilities including the ability to impact, influence, and constructively challenge senior leaders.
  • Solid aptitude for change management capabilities and leadership effectiveness.
  • Strong business acumen, growth mindset, and consultative orientation.

What's in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities.
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact.
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
  • Opportunities to do challenging work.
