This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus for occasional on-site expectations based on business needs.

The Health Systems Engineer (HSE) has a mature organization perspective and provides business consultative services from discovery to execution for business units and oversight committees requesting assistance with strategy execution, design thinking, management, process, and systems engineering, optimizing operational efficiency, aligning technical solutions with business objectives at Mayo Clinic, applied analytics or business and digital transformation, including automation. Possesses knowledge of and demonstrated application of consulting and engineering expertise in areas such as business vision, strategy execution and goals; digital technology enablement; business use cases; operations optimization; change management; and solution implementation. Performs business case analysis for departments, sites, or shields, including analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, draws conclusions, and develops actionable recommendations to inform leadership decisions. Applies advanced consulting and engineering methods and models throughout project lifecycles (defining client needs and required functionality early in the development cycle, documenting requirements, and then proceeding with design synthesis and system validation while considering the complete problem). Considers both the business and technical needs of all clients with the goal of providing an innovative product that meets current and future customer needs. Can both independently lead and enable moderate to complex projects, which may include subcomponents of larger scale projects as directed by a Senior HSE or Director of Clinical Innovation. Identifies, recommends and implements transformational solutions for departments, sites, and shields including data analysis and applied analytics, operations research methods, new staffing models, organizational structures, workflow and throughput, and digital interventions. Also, evaluates and articulates up/downstream impacts across clinical, research, education and administrative business units throughout the engagement. Leverages lessons learned to create best and next practice models, tools, frameworks and methods enabling sustained transformational capabilities. Experienced in identification and monitoring of performance metrics, risks, and controls. Designs and develops new business processes and capabilities.

Qualifications

Master's degree in management, industrial engineering, systems engineering, operations research, business administration, analytics, artificial intelligence or health-related field is preferred with 1 year of experience to include several of the following areas of consulting, operations optimization, workflow and staffing analysis, management and systems engineering, digital technology enablement, applied analytics and leadership with strategic initiatives OR Bachelor's degree in management, industrial engineering, systems engineering, operations research, business administration, analytics, artificial intelligence or health-related field with 3 years of experience to include several of the following areas of expertise: consulting, operations optimization, workflow and staffing analysis, management and systems engineering, digital technology enablement, applied analytics and leadership with strategic initiatives. Key Knowledge Required: Advanced knowledge and application of core business consulting and management engineering, methods, models, and frameworks. Proven ability to successfully execute projects of limited to moderate complexity, independently and as part of a team. Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines. Solid understanding of healthcare operations, systems, and workflows preferred. Proficiency in use of office and project simulation, optimization, and visualization tools (MS Excel, Word, Visio, Tableau and other process modeling and mapping, statistical, analytical, data visualization and survey technology) to derive insight and support decision-making. Preferred knowledge and use of Microsoft Power Platform toolset but not required. Ability to gather and document project-based functional and business requirements. Knowledge and demonstrated use of management and systems engineering, applied analytics, operations research, artificial intelligence as well as implementation and execution methods and tools. Proven ability to work as part of a cross-functional team with internal and external stakeholders, including all levels of organization leadership. Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
