SummaryWe are looking for a proactive, organized, and safety-oriented professional with a strong preventive mindset. The successful candidate will support the implementation and monitoring of health and safety programs on a major underground infrastructure project, ensuring compliance with company policies, project requirements, and applicable legislation.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in the field, interacting with site personnel and supervisors, and taking immediate action when safety risks are identified.
Main Responsibilities- Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Conduct field safety inspections to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support the implementation of the project Health & Safety Plan.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, project standards, and applicable legislation.
- Participate in incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, preparing reports and preventive recommendations.
- Coordinate and deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, orientations, and training sessions.
- Verify the proper use of personal protective equipment by workers and site personnel.
- Review work permits, risk assessments, safe work procedures, and related documentation.
- Work closely with supervisors, subcontractors, and construction teams to correct safety deviations.
- Maintain updated records of inspections, reports, training sessions, and incidents.
- Promote an active, preventive, and compliance-oriented safety culture on site.
- Working hours: To be confirmed; possible Monday-to-Friday schedule or rotational shifts (7/3 / 7/4) depending on project requirements.
RequirementsRequirements- Degree or technical background in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Construction, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Health & Safety roles.
- Previous experience in heavy construction, infrastructure, tunnelling, subway, civil works, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and site safety practices.
- Ability to work in the field and adapt to rotating schedules, including days, nights, weekends, and shift work if required.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multicultural teams, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Good level of English to communicate on site and prepare technical reports.
- English level: C1 (Advanced).
- Valid Canadian work permit required.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in tunnelling, transit, subway, or underground infrastructure projects.
- Health and Safety certifications.
- Knowledge of HSE management systems.
- Experience working with consortiums, joint ventures, or large international contractors.
- Familiarity with construction environments in Canada.
