You'll lead a high-performing team of experienced People Partners who are trusted advisors across the organization. Together, you'll shape the people strategy for R&D, while focusing on executive partnership, organizational evolution, leadership effectiveness, and long-term workforce strategy. We're looking for a leader who brings conviction, humility, and an enterprise mindset-someone who will advocate passionately for R&D while always thinking first about what's best for Asana.

This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.
What you'll achieve

  • Partner directly with our CTO and CPO as a trusted advisor, shaping people strategy, organizational design, workforce planning, leadership effectiveness, and the long-term evolution of Asana's R&D organization.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of two experienced People Partners, enabling them to deliver exceptional partnership while continuing to raise the bar across the R&D organization.
  • Partner with your People Partner leadership peers across GTM, G&A, and International to continuously evolve the People Partner function, bringing an enterprise-first mindset and helping build a consistent, high-impact team.
  • Lead organizational transformation across R&D, including organizational design, succession planning, leadership team effectiveness, change management, and workforce planning.
  • Serve as a trusted coach to senior leaders, providing thoughtful challenge, practical guidance, and candid feedback to help them and their teams perform at their best.
  • Partner on M&A activity, supporting organizational design, talent assessment, change management, and successful integration.
  • Use organizational health metrics, business insights, and employee feedback to influence executive decisions and continuously improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Help shape what great People Partnership looks like in an AI-first company by experimenting with new approaches, evolving how we work, and exploring how technology can amplify the impact of the People function.
  • Collaborate across the broader People team to deliver exceptional company-wide people programs while ensuring the evolving needs of the R&D organization are represented.
About you

  • Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
  • 10+ years of progressive People experience, including significant experience as a strategic People Partner supporting senior leaders within high-growth technology organizations.
  • Proven success leading organizational design, workforce planning, executive coaching, succession planning, and large-scale organizational change.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing People Partners.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to connect people strategy to business outcomes and influence executive decision-making.
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions or other significant organizational transformations.
  • Exceptional executive presence, sound judgment, and the confidence to make thoughtful decisions in complex, ambiguous environments.
  • Data-driven, collaborative, and highly influential, with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Leads with high conviction and low ego, naturally collaborating across teams, elevating others, and prioritizing enterprise outcomes over functional boundaries.
