Full Job Description
Overview

This role leads DCX's client technology platform strategy within the Marsh technology governance framework. Working as part of the DCX business unit, the Head of Client Platforms will drive alignment between DCX's client-facing platform needs and the Marsh Risk technology standards, approved solutions, and architectural guardrails. This is a partnership role: DCX brings deep understanding of client outcomes and platform priorities; Marsh Risk technology provides enterprise architecture, engineering, standards, infrastructure, and compliance oversight.

Role Purpose

As DCX scales platform adoption and delivery, this role unifies engineering, architecture, and technical operations across DCX and BCS partners to ensure client outcomes are delivered efficiently, securely, compliantly, and aligned to enterprise governance. A core early focus will be leading the continued convergence of disparate applications into a connected platform (Risk Companion), including a migration strategy that protects the client experience while reducing complexity, technical debt, and total cost of ownership (TCO)-all within the Marsh Risk technology operating model.

Key Responsibilities
Define DCX platform strategy within Marsh Risk governance: Translate client and product needs into a prioritized DCX platform roadmap that aligns with Marsh Risk technology standards, approved solutions, and enterprise architecture. Work closely with Marsh Risk technology leadership to ensure DCX priorities are reflected in technology decisions, while respecting enterprise-level constraints around scalability, resiliency, security, compliance, and cost.
Coordinate technology decisions and dependencies: Act as the primary technology liaison across DCX and BCS, driving alignment on priorities and trade-offs. Escalate architectural questions or conflicts to Marsh Risk technology partners for resolution within the established governance framework. Ensure clear communication between DCX product teams and Marsh Risk technology functions.
Advance engineering execution aligned with enterprise standards: Work with engineering leads to implement or adapt Marsh Risk-approved ways of working, release cadence, and quality standards for DCX context. Partner with Marsh Risk application support and infrastructure teams to ensure DCX engineering practices integrate smoothly with enterprise tooling and processes.
Own platform reliability and observability for DCX: Define and track SLOs/SLAs and DORA-style metrics for DCX platforms. Drive measurable improvements in uptime, performance, and recovery in partnership with Marsh Risk infrastructure and application support. Ensure observability infrastructure aligns with enterprise standards.
Clarify operating model and accountability: Document engagement model and RACI across engineering, product, analytics, ops, BCS, and Marsh Risk technology functions. Ensure clarity on decision rights, escalation paths, and how DCX connects to enterprise governance.
Manage platform cost and vendor strategy: Partner with Marsh Tech to develop and manage FinOps practices, build/buy decisions, and TCO optimization for DCX platforms, in consultation with Marsh Risk technology on approved vendors and infrastructure choices. Ensure cost visibility and accountability.
Set guardrails for responsible AI use in DCX: Define and communicate guardrails for AI/ML use in DCX platforms tied to client outcomes and ethical responsibility. Work with Marsh Risk technology and privacy/compliance on enterprise AI policy alignment.

Reporting Structure & Governance

This role reports dually to DCX leadership and the Marsh Risk technology function. The Head of Client Platforms is accountable to both:
• DCX leadership for client-facing outcomes, platform delivery, and DCX business priorities
• Marsh Risk technology for adherence to enterprise standards, architecture governance, and compliance

Decision Rights & Escalation

The Head of Client Platforms makes decisions on DCX platform priorities, roadmap sequencing, and engineering execution within the guardrails set by Marsh technology. For decisions that cross enterprise architecture, exceed approved vendor/infrastructure boundaries, or conflict with Marsh Risk standards, this role escalates to Marsh Risk technology leadership for resolution. The role does not unilaterally define enterprise standards or approved solutions; it integrates DCX needs into the existing Marsh technology governance process.
