As aSite Reliability Engineer, you will help build, integrate,deploy,andmonitorsoftwarerequiredfor theBlue Ring (BNS)Mission Operations Center used to fly on-orbit vehicles. As part of ahardworkingteamof engineers and mission operators,you will work closely with space vehicle and groundsystemteams.You will beresponsiblefor developing, testing and deploying software that willenable oursolutionsto perform mission-criticalfunctions,includingmission activity planning andscheduling, commandingand on-orbit operations,telemetrymonitoringand display,operational communications, mission visualization, flight/ground system integration/testing,and operations training.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, test, verify and deploymissionoperationssoftwaresystems, ensuring the success of the overall Ground System (hardware/software)supporting BlueOriginspacemission operations.
- Develop,monitorand troubleshoot software infrastructure
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineersrepresentingflight vehicle systems, mission control infrastructure, operationsdisciplinesand customersto define software requirements, architectures, and designs.
- Developrapid prototypes to prove out concepts and quantify technical risks.
- Lead andparticipatein post-incident reviews, driving actionable improvements to system reliability.
- Coordinate withmission control infrastructureandmissionsystem engineers to plan, develop, and lead system verification and qualification, to ensure software products that meet system requirements and safety-critical standards.
- Producetechnical documentation for softwarearchitecture, design, verification plans, usermanualand training material.
- Followsoftware development processes that meet Blue Origin and customer-required standards to ensure software safety and reliability.
- Support frequent update cycles in support of pre-flight testing, mission validationexercisesand operations training events.
- Supportmissioncontrol software operations responsibilities (maintenance, flaw correction, enhancements) during operator training;ground data system verification,validation,and certification;spacecraft integration;and flight.
- Integrate software components,create,and run unit-level and system-level tests,validateusing Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulators, and release certified code.
- Contribute to production of technical documentation for software design, verification plans, usermanualsand training material.
Qualifications:
- B.S.or higher degreein computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospaceengineering, or related fieldor equivalent experience
- 3+ years of software development experienceor as a Site Reliability Engineer
- Experience in softwareengineeringover the course of thefull lifecycleofsoftware development, including system design and analysis, requirement capture and development, software implementation and verification, system integration, qualification, and release.
- Experience insoftwarebuild automation, continuous integration, configuration management, verification,anddeployment
- Demonstrated experience withmodern CI/CD practices and infrastructure-as-code toolingsuch as Terraform andPulumi
- Experiencearchitecting and managing cloud infrastructure withcommon cloud platformssuch as AWS/Azure/GCP
- Experience with Kubernetes and common service meshes like Istio/Cilium/Linkerd
- Proficientdeveloping inLinuxenvironments
- Proficient in at least one programming language (Python, Go, Rust, Java)
- Highly organized team player with excellent technical written and verbal communication skills.

- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

- Experience in web development and/or database development and interfaces.

- Electronic, distributed team procedure authoring and execution
- Experience with spacecraft subsystems and associated subsystem software.
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $134,961.00 - $188,945.40
