Full Job Description
The opportunity

We're looking for a graphics engineer to join the Vulkan Graphics team and help ship a new renderer across the platforms Unity supports.

We work at the lowest level of Unity's graphics stack, building the rendering foundation that the rest of the engine sits on and that millions of creators depend on. What you build here affects how Unity renders on every platform we support.

You'll work alongside other graphics developers on performance, architecture, and taking advantage of new hardware capability as it arrives. You'll enjoy this role if you have a good grounding in real-time graphics and a real interest in low-level rendering work that reaches a very broad range of users.
What you'll be doing
  • Develop and maintain Unity's Vulkan renderer, delivering a consistent, high-quality rendering experience across the platforms and hardware Unity supports.
  • Push performance on both the CPU and GPU side - frame time, memory, and how efficiently Unity drives the hardware.
  • Help bring up new Vulkan and GPU capabilities as graphics hardware evolves.
  • Contribute to the cross-platform abstraction that lets Unity target multiple graphics APIs.
  • Work with stakeholders and higher-level engine teams to solve problems as they come up.
  • Take part in technical design reviews and code reviews.
What we're looking for
  • C++ experience writing performance-critical, multi-threaded systems.
  • Hands-on experience with a modern graphics API - Direct3D 12, Metal or Vulkan.
  • An understanding of real-time 3D graphics, including modern GPU architecture, resource management and synchronization.
  • The ability to diagnose rendering bugs and performance issues using industry-standard tools.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach and a real interest in rendering and cross-platform development.

Vulkan experience is a plus rather than a requirement. Graphics fundamentals and low-level C++ matter more to us at this level - the Vulkan depth is something you'll build here.

You might also have
  • Hands-on experience with Unity or another real-time 3D engine.
  • Experience developing graphics for Android and mobile GPUs, XR, or Linux.
