Meta is seeking a Gigawatt Site Project Director to lead the development and delivery of hyperscale data center campuses at gigawatt-scale capacity. In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of large-scale site development programs - from site selection and entitlement through infrastructure delivery and capacity activation - partnering with real estate, construction, utilities, and government stakeholders to bring critical compute infrastructure online. You will set strategic direction for a portfolio of major site programs that underpin Meta's global AI and data center growth, ensuring delivery at the speed, scale, and reliability the business demands.
Responsibilities
Define and drive the strategic development roadmap for gigawatt-scale data center site programs, aligning land acquisition, utility infrastructure, permitting, and construction sequencing to capacity demand signals
• Lead cross-functional site development teams spanning real estate, civil engineering, utility coordination, environmental permitting, and government affairs to deliver large-scale campuses on schedule and within budget
• Oversee master planning and entitlement processes for greenfield and brownfield data center sites, including zoning, environmental review, and regulatory approvals across multiple jurisdictions
• Manage relationships with electric utilities, transmission operators, and grid authorities to secure gigawatt-scale power commitments and coordinate substation and transmission infrastructure delivery
• Establish program governance frameworks, milestone tracking systems, and risk management processes across a portfolio of concurrent site development programs
• Partner with construction management, design engineering, and procurement teams to align site infrastructure delivery schedules with data center building programs
• Engage with local, state, and federal government stakeholders to advance permitting timelines, negotiate development agreements, and resolve regulatory barriers
• Provide executive-level reporting on site program status, capacity delivery forecasts, risk exposure, and strategic tradeoffs to senior leadership
• Lead and develop a team of site development managers and program managers, setting performance expectations and building organizational capability for large-scale site delivery
• Identify and evaluate emerging site development opportunities, conducting feasibility assessments that integrate power availability, land suitability, water access, and community considerations
Minimum Qualifications
• 15+ years of experience in large-scale site development, infrastructure program management, or capital project delivery in the data center, energy, or heavy industrial sectors
• Experience leading gigawatt-scale or multi-hundred-megawatt infrastructure programs from site selection through construction and capacity activation
• Experience managing utility power procurement and transmission infrastructure coordination for large-scale industrial or data center facilities
• Experience navigating complex land entitlement, environmental permitting, and regulatory approval processes across multiple jurisdictions
• Experience building and leading cross-functional teams and managing program portfolios with significant capital investment and organizational accountability
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with hyperscale data center design standards, campus master planning, and the interdependencies between site infrastructure and building delivery programs
• Track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure programs in compressed timelines through creative sequencing, early procurement strategies, and proactive risk mitigation
• Experience structuring and negotiating development agreements, power purchase agreements, or infrastructure cost-sharing arrangements with utilities or municipalities
• Experience managing site development programs in multiple countries or regions, including coordination with international utilities and regulatory bodies
