Ready to build a margin and risk platform used by Risk Managers globally?

The Opportunity

As a Full Stack Engineer in Equities & Securities Financing Technology you will build and enhance an in-house margin and risk platform used by Risk Managers globally. You will join Canada's Margin & Risk pod within Securities Financing Technology with end-to-end ownership across analysis, design, build, automated testing, release, and ongoing production operations. The team works in Agile and DevOps ways of working, shipping changes frequently and continuously improving how services are built, tested, released, and run. This role is hybrid and based in the Toronto office with a distributed team across London, Guangzhou, and Toronto. Success means delivering reliable production changes at a regular cadence while strengthening security, operational stability, and long-term maintainability aligned to strategic architecture.

What you'll be doing
  • Own the full software lifecycle from analysis and design through build, automated testing, release, and production operations
  • Build and enhance an in-house margin and risk platform used by Risk Managers globally
  • Deliver production releases and follow associated change processes
  • Provide operational support and participate in incident response as needed in a you build it; you support it model
  • Strengthen security and vulnerability management, including remediation and continuous hardening
  • Partner with the business, Product Owner, and global technology stakeholders to design fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Align solutions to strategic architecture and long-term maintainability while meeting immediate requirements
  • Collaborate across London, Guangzhou, and Toronto to deliver effectively across time zones

What we're looking for
  • Build backend services using core Java (Java 17 or 21) with Spring Boot or Spring Framework
  • Develop Representational State Transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (APIs)
  • Deliver solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Cloud Run, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Google Cloud Storage (GCS), Secret Manager, and Identity and Access Management (IAM)
  • Apply architecture patterns including microservices, event-driven approaches, and caching strategies
  • Create and maintain automated unit/integration tests and regression test suites using JUnit
  • Work effectively in Agile and DevOps (Development and Operations) delivery models with frequent releases and automation
  • Partner with stakeholders to interpret requirements and translate them into maintainable technical designs
  • Support production services with a focus on operational stability and effective incident response
